For what it's worth Matt I fullt agree with you. Most of these glowing posts are just honey eyed perspectives. Khedira is very clever and highly experienced in top level GOOD player. But he is not world class at all. Completely watering down the term to say it, and not a single one of them would say it if he wasn't a Juve player.

You can like him and rate his balanced level of play without going googly eyed.

Juve has some standard to live up to, if not being bad was the requirement to play for us we wouldn't go far

Btw, not saying he's not Juve worthy. He is, but as a squad player, not first team at least in the best of worlds.

Are you trying to tell me you dont realize the different level of quality players in top teams and nations, and kind of not necessarily top class support players thats needed for a team to function? Or what, all these teams have 11 world class players? The same Germany that played or play with Benders, Kramers, Schurrle's, Hectors, or Mustafi's. But hey, they are world champions so every single one is world class, amirite?

But hey, did you suddenly forgot how to read? I asked about role players that are starters for top teams. You name a random bunch of guys that get to play occasionally for a Germany that has played all kind of random guys in friendlies last couple of years. So who else can you come up with?

But played for Germany plus RM plus Juventus... A squad player don´t have those options. As you said they play in Wolfs, Schalks, Chelsea or some other teams but never in RM AND JUVE

Marchisio for most of his career has been inferior to or similar level player (past years before role change) that Khedira is. A good to very good role player who doesnt have much impact but adds fair bit to the mix still (except Khedira was much more experienced in top level, considering Claudio mainly grew up in a Juve that was struggling). But Marchisio past two seasons has become a top DM who is FUNDEMENTAL to the team, aslong as he is not tired, he pretty much delivers and is a player we heavily rely on. Its mostly the important role but also with the exceptional quality he perfoms his task with. Until Khedira becomes that kind of co-dependant player for his team type of quality, I would say yeah its clear who is better for me. Khedira isnt for Juve, and he wasnt for Real Madrid. You may call them spoilt, but even when he wasnt injured, not a single of many Real fans I know miss him one bit. Good but very replaceable midfielder.

That counts for alot, defenitely. But it doesnt make you world class.

Instead you could have argued the player has the ability to be beyond a squad player, mentioning the club he's played for is a poor argument.

Maxwell's not world class either for example.

Marchisio isnt irreplacable either. We went to München with Hernanes starting infront of defense and played maybe the best game of the season (Khedira was among.our best players btw). Also, Marchisio has missed some games which we were able to win comfortably with Khedira playing (same as vice versa). Their impact has been on a similar level this season with Marchisio being slightly better, but I didn't see him being a much superior player to Sami. If this was last season maybe but definitely not this season

PSG is a team in the building still but you can see them not rating him too much by getting 1st Digne and now after he failed Kurzawa.

Both Digne and Kurzawa has failed to take his spot (just half season with Kurzawa but he hasnt put in a dent even). Nor are both anything more then decent/good level players anyway, like Maxwell, except he knows whats expected of him and does it more consistently with sheer experience.

We already are dependent on Khedira as seen by our results. Marchisio is the best midfielder we have in the team and arguably even the best player so not being as good as him is nothing to be ashamed of.

Are there players that would be an improvement over Khedira? Absolutely. Should we spend money to buy one? No. I think we should look to bring someone in who is good enough that when Khedira misses games we don't drop in quality considerably.

I think this whole conversation might even come down to what we think is world class because as a term it really isn't something you can use as a fact. People have different views on what constitutes as world class.

And when Maxwell played in RM? or Juve? are you saying that the likes of PSG or Merda are like us?

There's not point. It's not possible for a midfielder to be in a NT like Germany, in teams like RM and JUVE, raise cups everywhere and just be "Basic or squad player". I'm not saying he's Zizou or some top 10 all time MF but he's very very far from a "descent" player

That is defenitely true. Tho for mostly is quite telling there has to be even lengthly debate or contention if a player is or not, especially one who has played in top level for long time.

They are both young and french and at the time PSG bought them were considered top talents at their position. You could see with Verratti that PSG, unlike City for example, wont always go for the readymade superstar and are more willing to take 'risks' with younger players. Maxvell was one of their 1st buys and the guys that were supposed to take over from failed (so far with Kurzawa, he might still become whats expected of him) to establish themselves. Otherwise he would be replaced long ago

I respect your point but disagree. Pogs would be the best MF in the world next coming years, Marchisio is one of the best DM in the world but as CM is not even in a top 20 IMO
