He gets himself into good positions to do what? Tackle, intercept, score? Or to receive the ball and pass it off quickly? He does make good runs into the box, yet barely scores or assists.

But he doesn't tackle, intercept or score much. So what good is his positioning? 4 goals and 3 assists isn't bad, but it isn't "great". When he's not scoring or assisting, he's just there, being in a nice position to do... things

He hasn't played that much so 4 goals and 3 assist is more than decent but his main strength for me is that he almost never loses possession and is always available for a pass.
Khedira: goal or assist every 186 minutes in Serie A
Pogba: goal or assist every 178 minutes in Serie A
So in terms of production he's very close to Pogba the difference is that Pogba has played double the minutes. So would you say that 8 and 6 goals wouldn't be good enough.

You have to decide if his goal/assist ratio is a strength of his or not. Before Juve that rate was very low. And the sample size with Juve is too small to say it's a strength of his or something we can expect to continue
Those other things are true, but they don't really add much to a team who wants to be top 3 in Europe

What are you talking about? I have to decide what his strength are? His strengths will be the same regardless of what I think.
I can't speak too much about him as a player before he played for Juve because I haven't seen enough of him playing back then but considering that before his injury he was a starter for Real and remained starter for Germany even after his injury I'd say we can safely say he was WC even then.
20 games is more than big enough sample size to see what the player has to offer and in case of Khedira he offers a lot in terms of stability and offers enough attacking impetus. I don't really see any weakness to his game which is probably the best compliment to give any midfielder.
The main reason I can think of is that he isn't flashy. But his movement is exceptional, which opens teams up but is also very disciplined defensively.
He has been a key player for Germany from a very good youth team all the way up to winning the World Cup and to the present day. To say that he doesn't add much to a team that wants to be top 3 in Europe is not true.

Great way of twisting words. Im saying you can't have an impressive goalscoring record while being the DM in a 2 man midfield while having 4 offensive players infront of you. Scoring goals is not what you are supposed to do then
