Khedira is nothing special, absolutely.
He's a guy to fill in who is considered experienced and reliable, pretty much like Hernanes. Doesn't do anything specially well. Adds balance to the team and that's it. Can't really defend well, also can't really create.
And (surprise) he's always injured.
As a rotation player, and despite his absurdely high salaries (some of the biggest of the squad), his cost isn't that high because he came for free, but it isn't cheap either. I considered it a decent signing, but I wouldn't have made it, exactly because of his injury history.
If or when he comes back from the injury, I expect him to ride the bench, with Pogba and Pereyra as starters, along with Marchisio.
Pereyra is clearly a much better player.

if he can play full-time for 15 matches, this will be a decent signing considering all the fees we paid.
free+4m wages for 4yrs = 16m transfer fee + 2m wages almost.

His wages is net. If there is a 50 % tax rate in Italie that means that the wage cost for Juve for 4 years are 32 mio. He will be 32 years old when his contract ends so there will be no resale value. That makes net spend 32 mio. Consider a player like Dybala instead. I think his net wages are 3 mio. Wich translate to 6 mio a year. Four years thats 24 mio. Even if he flops he should be worth atleast 20 mio in resale value. That means net spend are 36 mio. If he does good the scenario could be a gain instead. I now they are not similar players ore even play the same position. I am just pointing out why investing in free agents in there late 20es is not always a good idee as their wages are a lot higher than when you pay for talented players and there is no resale value.
