Like I said @whatsup group: I was fine with signing Sami and I thought he'd be a good back-up. But it was fishy as he wanted to leave Madrid cause he didn't play enough -- which only implied we told him he'd get to play many matches here. It was fine too. Sami Khedira was stretchered off with a suspected hamstring strain and is likely to miss the Italian Super Cup with Lazio.
The former Real Madrid midfielder suddenly pulled up clutching the back of his right thigh just 25 minutes into a friendly against Olympique Marseille.
He was clearly in agony and was carefully carried away by the medical staff.
There was no contact with other players, so everything points towards a hamstring or thigh strain.
Now tests will be required to ascertain the extent of the damage, but it’s very unlikely he’ll be passed fit to play in the Italian Super Cup against Lazio next Saturday in Shanghai.
