But you gotta admit it feels better when you discover a Pogba instead of splashing all that cash into freakin F. Torres or Falcao for example.
What I'm worried about is that if we did get into position when we can spend a lot we'd stop looking for such jewels.

I'm not saying we should change our transfer policy. I was just laughing at the statement that someone would take bargains anyday (which are not risk free at all) instead of being able to buy top star players.
Okay fair enough. I think we will continue with good blend of bargains and young almost established stars like Dybala and Alex Sandro. Di Marias of this world are still too expensive for us to consider.

It feels best when you get results, no matter if it's free Pogba or expensive Buffon, Nedved or Thuram.

Could be, but it's hard to tell any more. Those days of Buffon and Nedved seem to have come back around.
Buffon was the most expensive GK signing. And both Nedved and Thuram were mega million "marquee" signings at their time. Back when we bought melo and dieog or amauri, those prices were not really a star player prices. Dybala today is a big money transfer imo. I'm not taking into account Ronaldo or bale transfer sums.

And hopefully those days are indeed back. I have no problem if we can't buy ronaldo or bale for those crazy sums, but are able to buy once in a while dybala or someone worth around 50 mil.

I can see us making one or two signings like this per season max, and not every season, because it's difficult to improve the team past a certain point. We aren't going to stack players like City, Chelsea or Madrid, we don't have the salary scope. We'd be looking at maybe a DC to replace Barzagli. A keeper to replace Buffon. A CM longer term. RWB. Gradual moves, but with the idea that we also try to replace those players in-house with moves for young players in the <€15m bracket.

When things aren't going well, it's how isn't Allegri fired yet, fire Marotta, Khedira was a horrible signing, Marotta "forced" Vidal and Coman out, the club failed to sign completely realistic targets in Isco and Gotze, it was a failure to not pay 30+ M for an apparently great, ready-made quality AM like Draxler, Mandzukic is shiet, we don't have a Pirlo (who btw was great last season apparently) replacement, should've sold Pogba, Rugani should start ahead of Chiellini, and we'll finish below top-3.

And when things are going well, Allegri is better than Sacchi already, Sturaro is comparable with Vidal, Khedira is better than Vidal, selling Coman and Vidal were great deals, Dybala is better than Neymar, and we'll crush Bayern.

From one polar extreme to another polar extreme in the space of 5 months, lol. :D More like 3 months actually.

"Need new RB" and "sell Asamoah" cries can still be heard now though.
