A loyal and nice guy , but right now he is not doing much to our midfield other than sitting in front of the defence. His sideways passing and lack of urgency is frustrating to watch.

Maybe i fail to see his value, but i would much rather see marchisio play right now.
you're not the only one, somehow there are those making excuses for khedira still

Not in "club loyalty" but in a sense of role. He is Allegris perfect soldier, always reliable when called upon to do what a primate with minor intelligence is able to do 1: run 2: stand in the way 3: pass the ball .
I’m not one of Khediras fans, quite far from it, but you’re selling the guy short here. He’s actually intelligent when it comes to game play, passing and making certain runs. His problem is that he’s slow and not physical enough

nope, Matuidi

Then obviously we should either alter the formation or buy a better midfielder. What's worrying is this guy is one of the few players who's guaranteed a starting place.
the problem is, this formation (atleast right now) gives us balance, and we look more like the team of last years than at the beginning of the season. it also suits Matuidi much more than the 4231 as he can go forward more, is allowed to press more, and can drift wide to create space in the middle. i wish we bought someone too, but right now we cant do better. hopefully we have a Marchisio that is able to play consecutive games on a high tempo by March, would allow us much better rotation

You have no clue how football is played if you think that's on matuidi, khedira is the only static player in the action, plus he's the one who should be looking for the pass. To make things worse he doesn't try to close down caceres or tackle the shot, in one word: useless

the pass was too far from him, he caught up with the ball but Caceres was quicker. if he didnt shoot instantly, Khedira was in position to stop him a second after. you cant put a player in such situation and then blame a 25 meters screamer on him

That's coz he should have been transitioning like everyone else he needs to be at least I'm the same line as matuidi, also once caceres locks the shot he needs to tackle.really straight forward stuff.

he waits for a pass to send it to the right to a running Berna, you can see him dropping more to the right slightly. he wont run forward with a player infront of him to reduce the time and space he has for the pass, and Matuidi waited a second or 2 long and passed it too far from him. and he cant tackle because he wont make it, he would give up an even easier shot if he tried to tackle and Caceres went by

You see a weak aspect of both players here. Matuidi technically weak pass, and if it had been any other player he would have got away with it but Khedira is a tortoise and the ball easily gets away from him.

Odd, he looked like a man possessed for about 20 mins then dissolved into a non-entity.

It's a mistake on Matuidi. It's not a mistake per se from Khedira but holy hell you expect a better challenge than that. Getting turned around by Caceres is shocking.
