Yep, nothing wrong with his Roma game, but his season in overall besides the first 4 games has been absolutely shocking really. We are not used to seeing him play this nonstop and it really reminds us how low his form can get, while last season he looked better and had plenty of time offs between appearances.

I thinking "absolutely shocking" is pushing it a bit, but yeah, we haven't seen the decisive and dangerous Sami we saw last season. Just needs more rest, we have Lemina, who is a good, young, energetic and dynamic player waiting in the wings to deputise for him against the lower ranked Serie A teams, I just wish Allegri uses him more than he currently does.

One thing I don't quite get about khedira is..why is everyone saying that he is a good player at all? I would like to be sincerely enlightened. He does not have great pace, not a good long shot, not strong in tackles, not good in the air. Ok, maybe he is a decent passer. That is all. tell me his qualities will y'all?

He does bring experience and stability, but i agree: its hard to describe what makes him "Good". Just decent at best.

He'd look solid to decent if you put energetic players alongside him like a Sturaro for instance(ideally you'd want to have a Sturaro like player with much better technique though) otherwise Khedira will continue to get exposed like he's been in the past games not including the Roma game.

Currently there's a lack of high energy midfielders in the team bar subs like Sturaro and Lemina so it's natural the microscope would be on Khedira because the other two starters (Marchisio and Pjanić) tactically are more important to the side.

Good on Allegri to switching a diamond tbh. It's certainly made our midfield more aggressive and hide the weaknesses of other midfielders. I certainly don't entertain the thought of having a Khedira-Marchisio-Pjanić midfield against high intensity teams.

Nothing personal against him, but his input is way too low for a player of his pedigree.

Thats why i say we can do better.

He's a good player. The problem is that he needs a functioning team around him to show his skill set. And the other problem is we have too many of those players right now in the lineup. Pjanic is the big one, and perhaps should be the only one afforded that luxury.

He's a good player.
Please elaborate. Like many of the people here, I am still confused about why is Khedira considered a good footballer.

Having said that, we are all just football fans, who evaluate him based on his performance on the pitch. Perhaps in the real world of football, semantic skills (attitude, dressing room characteristic, experience in handling emotion) is highly valued, and Khedira may have them as he has played in huge games.

We've already been through this, Sami just has world class luck. He was lucky to play for Real Madrid just like he is lucky to start in the German NT and now he is again lucky to play for Juventus. This great luck has enabled him to win numerous trophies in three different countries and at an international level.

Its not luck, he simply was good on those teams. We got the scraps from Madrid. Thats all there is to it.

That's fair enough if you think he physically done at the top level. I myself see no reason to believe that that is the case because he showed great form with us last season and during the start of this season too.

Maybe I should say competent instead? He doesn't make big mistakes, holds his position well, wins just enough battles, makes decent enough passes in attack, gets into decent positions and finishes most of the time. If you give him time to pick a pass, he can pick it.

He's not a player that drives the outcome of the match though. For teams like Germany and Madrid he is what you want because he doesn't have aspirations to do things he's not capable of. When the stars need the ball, he passes to them quickly. When there are gaps left in defense, he fills them.

For me, his best position is in a 2 man midfield with attacking talent ahead of him. He can just read the play and make easy passes to options always ahead of him.

In other words, he is a Padoin who happens to have a good agent and luck to bring him into great teams and win trophies, plus a hot girlfriend.

i dont rate him in Madrid, nor Germany NT. The only reason we got him is because it was a good opportunity to get a player of his experience, at no transfer fee.

Sami is a passenger in this midfield. Not sure why he doesn't make himself available in the buildup but instead darts upfield every time we have possession. Recovered balls- pjanic has more this season. His misses vs sevilla earlier this year and last years vs inter really annoyed me. I would prefer to start a midfield:
------rincon marchisio lemina----
---------dybala pjanic------
-------------higuain---------

Just my two cents.

:agree: I thought he played well too. He really does know how to make good runs into the box and always gets in good positions.
He did that in the first five or six games in the season then stopped all of a sudden. He is back now and the way he plays when he does is very productive and useful to our overall setup but the question is how long will this last.
