Ok I have no dog in this fight, don't know the history behind the conflict, don't want to offend anyone here effected by this war and would be offended myself if someone gave an ignorant take on the ongoing troubles in my own Countr but I have a question.

After a few beers and going down a youtube rabbit hole I've seen commentators like Dave Smith, Tucker Carlson and an ex CIA operatives saying the West has provoked this war, Russia looked for peace from the outset as they didn't want Ukraine to join NATO and Ukraine has been used as cannon fodder and are actually trailing men from the street's, old men and even some with down syndrome to fight at the front lines.

This could be all propaganda of course as we live in a world where everything should be questioned and I already stated before I'm uneducated in this but is there any truth to this at all?

Disregarding our war - Dave Smith, Tucker and some ex CIA grifters from YouTube should not be your sources of information in any situation. Splash some cash on FT or The Economist, they are from good to great.

This is an existential war for us. If Russia wins or allows to freeze conflict to rearm and restart it in 3-4 years like they always do, there will be no Ukraine, no Ukrainian people. Russians will kill/deport all civilians who have something Ukrainian in them - culture, language, political position, and forcibly Russify remaining. This is how Russia has always been operating.
It sometimes bugs me how some of our European friends don't see it or don't want to see it, and our other European neighbors are straight up in cahoots with Russia. I am not even talking about the MAGA idiots.

That's the face of US politics today. Political divide so extreme, that one side is comfortably siding with Russian dictatorship and propagating their talking points.
At no point in history this shithole of a country was looking for peace.

I’m not sure where you’re going with this. Yes, Israel has everyone in their pockets but just because they’re doing it, doesn’t mean it’s okay for Russia to do it. Maybe Russia should have bought more influence from the western world before they decided to invade Ukraine, but they’re too poor for that unfortunately.

Lol, because Russia has a pristine reputation for avoiding war crimes? Russia bombed every hospital in Syria they could.
But anyway, they've used an X-101 rocket, which has a delta of < 50 meters. Videos show that the rocket is entirely intact. So yeah, they wanted to hit the hospital, maybe not the toxicology building, but the main building, where most of the kids with cancer are.
