Are you implying that we installed Zelensky as Russia did Kadyrov or something? That's pretty ridiculous. Lol, "single handedly." Then I supposed after Russia takes Crimea, that would push the Ukrainian public back into their arms and make them feel nice and safe, huh? Ah, I guess being "threatened" makes it right then? You're a big supporter of the Iraq war I take it, since we were "threatened" by "weapons of mass destruction" just like Russia, a possessor of nuclear weapons, was "threatened" by big scary Ukraine becoming closer with the west, who is just ALWAYS threatening poor innocent Russia.

Russia has no national security points. The US has never invaded Russia, no nation was threatening to invade Russia at any point. But wait, wasn't it to eliminate Nazis? No no wait, wasn't it "rightful Russian land?" Oh no no it was national security wasn't it? They can't even get their story straight, how can you buy any of this? Either way, good thing they blew up all those apartment buildings in city squares, guess you feel really safe now.

Yes it does say a lot about those posters, why don't you look at who they are and other ridiculous things that they say to determine how seriously you should take them.
Joe Biden from 1997

Again, so Russia, a nuclear power, should be able to dictate foreign policy of other sovereign nation is your implication? Think about how you answer, because it informs many other things.

"I don't mean military"
Thinking what Joe Biden said 25 years ago is responsible for Ukraine being invaded by Russia is bizarre.

If we’re playing that game though, and bringing up long ago random shit said by politicians… we can pull Putin quotes from much more recently expressing that the worst thing to happen in the twentieth century was the dissolution of the USSR and stating his desire to recreate it. Or a thousand and one Russian politicians at the highest echelon threatening nuclear war on NATO and Ukraine just in the past 18 months.

The problem is that he is talking about provoking Russia by incorporating the Baltic states in NATO. To you this doesn't sound like e big deal but for an Eastern European this sounds too arrogant and full of hubris. In 1997 Russia is under Yeltsin, its economy is destroyed by mass privatization, it has massive crime rates, US and other western countries can extract natural resources for almost no expense and people like Biden at the Atlantic council are thinking how can they provoke a literally dying country.

The US provoked the war in Ukraine. By insisting in 2008 that Georgia and Ukraine must be in NATO. By supporting a coup in 2014 in Ukraine - there is a voice record how Victoria Nuland is choosing who is going to be in the coup government and also is saying "fuсk the EU" when asked if she will talk to her European partners. And then the US started arming Ukraine preparing them for this conflict.

Also Russia's demands should have been respected.

1. The Cuban missile crisis proved that every big power will act harshly if it sees threat on its borders.
2. 1/3 of Ukraine has Russian as a native language and 1/6 of the population is ethnically Russian, you can't expect Russia to accept the mistreatment of 6 million Russians in Ukraine.
3. There shouldn't have been a war. Both sides could have made compromises and have peace. Ukraine gives up Crimea and NATO, Russia gives up control on the Ukrainian government.

What was the US plan for this war:

Step 1 - escalate the Ukrainian attacks in Donbas to provoke a Russian military invasion.
Step 2 - put huge economic sanction on the Russian economy
Step 3 - the Russian economy is destroyed by those sanctions and this provokes a civil unrest.
Step 4 - the civil unrest leads to regime change of Putin
Step 5 - Putin is regime changed by Boris Yeltsin 2 and the Western powers can do whatever they please with Russia.

I don't think that even the inept US administration is so stupid to think that military Zelensky can defeat Russia when far greater leaders like Napoleon and Hitler failed before. But who knows maybe Blinken, Nuland and Sullivan are that delusional.

What happened instead

Step 1 - escalate the Ukrainian attacks in Donbas to provoke a Russian military invasion. Accomplished.
Step 2 - put huge economic sanction on the Russian economy. Accomplished again.
Step 3 - the Russian economy is destroyed by those sanctions and this provokes a civil unrest. Epic fail. On one hand the world can see that a country can live without the SWIFT banking system and western currency, on the other hand this sanctions showed the so called Global South that the US is ready to use the dollar and the euro as a weapon and the desire to go off the dollar is gaining pace. Also the US lost a lot of credibility with those violent economic actions in countries that recently were a kind of allies. For example the OPEC countries.
Step 4 - an inevitable Ukrainian capitulation is coming and Russia will have full control on what happens next. Well done USA.

History will judge the US as the main reason for the war in Ukraine once the dust settles. The US is guilty for tens of thousands dead Russians and at least half a million dead Ukrainians. The ruling class in the US is disgusting beyond imagination.

The "mistreatment" those 6 million ethnic russians in Ukraine are experiencing right now from russia is incomparably greater than anything that they experienced from Ukraine before or were likely to experience afterwards. If thats the goal, to improve living conditions and equal rights of ethnic russians or whatever, bombing the shit out of their homes is not the solution lol

The stuff you get to read here

Perhaps some nutters in Telegram groups will think so. For the rest Putin the wannabe Hitler is guilty of attacking a sovereign country with completely made up reasons, but you do you.

And it's not even a war, just some little special operation ;)

Better than one “slipped and fell off the balcony” I suppose
This part though :touched:

"Mr Putin recently showed a rare example of caving in to popular pressure - by cutting the cost of buying chicken and eggs. On a public phone-in, a caller berated the Russian president for the high price she was having to pay.

With just three months to go until the election, President Putin has now decided that eggs and chicken should be exempt from all import taxes."

Guess what organization Sweden is now joining as a direct result of Russian imperialism? If they were to somehow fully annex Ukraine, they now border multiple current NATO members, so do tey feel "safer" then? Do you understand why that excuse makes no sense?

The US provoked the war in Ukraine. By insisting in 2008 that Georgia and Ukraine must be in NATO. By supporting a coup in 2014 in Ukraine - there is a voice record how Victoria Nuland is choosing who is going to be in the coup government and also is saying "fuсk the EU" when asked if she will talk to her European partners. So again, what are you implying here? The US on their own overthrew the previous government and faked an election? For what purpose exactly?

But again, no they shouldn't have been respected because
1. It doesn't matter what they want another foreign nation to do and
2. Fuck them.

I don't understand this line of thinking, so no small nation should ever have any choice in their own foreign and domestic policy because some larger power may want the opposite? Why would you ever advocate for that?
1. The Cuban missile crisis proved that every big power will act harshly if it sees threat on its borders.
We didn't park ICBMs in Kyiv, but sure we'll be generous to you here. Remember now, according to your logic the US was justified in their actions here. You also support the Iraq War I as well I suppose, since others were "threatened".

2. 1/3 of Ukraine has Russian as a native language and 1/6 of the population is ethnically Russian, you can't expect Russia to accept the mistreatment of 6 million Russians in Ukraine.
Mistreated? What happened, I thought it was because Russia was threatened by the United States? And whatever happened to those nazis?

3. There shouldn't have been a war. Both sides could have made compromises and have peace. Ukraine gives up Crimea and NATO, Russia gives up control on the Ukrainian government.
But Czechoslovakia - whoops, I mean Crimea was already given up to Russia, remember? And it doesn't seem like it prevented any war.

Wait hold on, you're blaming the US for "a coup" and controlling their government, but Russia is allowed to do it without a problem? Why??

What was the US plan for this war:

Step 1 - escalate the Ukrainian attacks in Donbas to provoke a Russian military invasion.
Step 2 - put huge economic sanction on the Russian economy
Step 3 - the Russian economy is destroyed by those sanctions and this provokes a civil unrest.

This is all nonsense, so I will not respond to it.

What happened instead

Step 1 - escalate the Ukrainian attacks in Donbas to provoke a Russian military invasion. Accomplished.
What are you talking about???? It's their own territory.

OPEC an ally???? You feeling alright? Every (successful) nation uses economics as weapon since the dawn of time.

Step 4 - an inevitable Ukrainian capitulation is coming and Russia will have full control on what happens next. Well done USA.
 Why the hell would they capitulate when they've very successfully fought back the invasion force of a much larger nation and are holding their ground? You're being disingenuous now and are making me regret putting the effort in to respond to this. To be plainly honest this is a purely delusional take, you make it sound like their on the doorstep of the capital.

History will judge the US as the main reason for the war in Ukraine once the dust settles. The US is guilty for tens of thousands dead Russians and at least half a million dead Ukrainians.
You're wrong. There's nothing else to say here other than this is completely false. This is the meme with the kid putting a stick in his own bike wheel, blaming someone else. Ridiculous.

The ruling class in the US is disgusting beyond imagination.
They all are. I guess unlike your peaceful, virtuous Russian oligarchy though? :howler:
