It's true. Sadly, there are a whole group of dumb Muricans who are basically pro-Putin and Russia because of the simple fact they hate Joe Biden and his son. I don't like Joe Biden at all, think his son is a deadbeat loser who was handed everything, but this is the epitome of retardation in our binary sack-o-shit political theatre. I was saving a response until I got home to my laptop but it seems that others answered. Like some said, for many there is the simple "Ukraine" is now = "Biden" = "Democrats," so people will automatically be opposed based on that. Then there's the portion that genuinely are isolationist and against spending.

And then of course there are the genuine retards that were formerly QAnon supporters, who knows what they believe now, but s4tch touched on some of it.

Zelensky was in the Pandora papers and he is the president of a country that for decades have been struggling with corruption, I think its fair to assume that prior to war Zelensky possibly had issues with corruption.

But the mfucking Russia coming to wipe you out must be the best medicine for that, I think Zelensky and Ukraine as a whole are united much more and love their country much more than in normal circumstances, Ive no doubt they'll go after every asshole that tries to use his countries demise for personal gain.

There are factions within US intelligence/military that are split on strategy towards China and what role Russia plays as part of that, i.e. weakening Russia before focusing on China vs using Russia against China like reverse Sino-Soviet split. Carlson is a mouthpiece for the latter that want US to turn full attention towards China, and to lower tensions with Russia so as to not push Russia and China further into strategic alliance. On viewer level this gets wrapped up into "China is our biggest threat" and from there "the dems/current administration have been infiltrated by China" as a mirror to Russiagate.

As you mentioned there's also the whole culture war and anti-woke, anti-LGBTQ discourse that Carlson is a major proponent of, which aligns well with the more socially conservative/orthodox and nationalist position Russian gov has taken since early 2010s to distinguish themselves from the "decadent" west (to distract from internal unrest and economic problems of course).

Also Putin is no communist or USSR admirer, if that's what you meant. He's an extension of the comprador class that helped dismantle it, handpicked by Yeltsin to consolidate Russia's transition to neoliberal capitalism. He seems much more enamoured with Tsarist Russia than Soviet Union, has often criticized Lenin, said the bolsheviks betrayed Russia, etc. Of course he's used soviet nostalgia when it benefits, for example when he took power to brush over the shitshow in the 90s and recently as propaganda for the war with Ukraine, but lip service is all it is.
