Part of me thinks the Russians are deliberately dragging this out.

I think that is surely the case. Firstly, I seriously highly doubt taking Ukraine in 3 days is objective in reality. It might be possible in some ideal conditions which is quite rare. Not to mention Ukraine is the biggest country in Europe and attacking big cities with so many streets is quite dragging, especially if military is on their foot most of the time. Was it months that Germans thought it would take them to conquer west in WWII? However, it took them years. Secondly, since Russia took a huge blow, I think they are taking their turn and kicking Europe (US included) in the nuts, being in power to create possibly biggest economic crisis (or at least bigger than 2008 one).

I think you exaggerate Europeans' capriciousness. They too know how to endure.

Being used to a shitty life is never an advantage. At least, (hopefully) Europeans know what they are suffering for - to preserve that very quality of life.

When you're used to comfort, you're in no way ready to fight struggles. You will cry over tinniest things. Those who don't have much to lose won't complain much. Europeans who are used to high quality have everything to lose. And economic crisis will create huge conflicts within the EU surely because everyone will try to save their own ass. Europeans are crying when fuel is 1.8-2e per 1L while their salary is 8-10e per hour. Over here we have 1.7e roughly while for one hour of work people usually get 2 euros. This is nothing new to us here as we live struggling ever since early 90s. Imagine Europeans paying 10e for 1L of fuel. You'd see shit hit the fan right away.

Switch of power? US-EU relations that were in shambles just months ago are the best they have been in years. NATO alliance that looked about to fall apart restrengthened and multiple member nations finally jacking defence spending to the 2% level. Russian currency, market, economy in shambles, total economic collapse if this continues.

China could be the biggest beneficiary of this conflict. But as things stand, this has just helped force the west to get its shit together.

As for other things you said, I do agree. But I do agree on a political level, not others and mainly economic. If it drags on it will be a question of food and that's an entirely different beast. It's not just a huge chunk of oil and gas from Russia but also 30% of wheat from Russia and Ukraine. If it continues I think we're going to see the biggest inflation and quite few empty shelves all over Europe with empty gas stations. That sort of crisis I'm referring to and imo if it comes down to that then I see political levels being shaky too since there won't be unity there.
