If you think about it, both idelogies are very similar just aimed differently. Nazis were basing their on racism, like you said. Communists did the same but based it on "classes". Both wanted to get the world rid of their enemy group and both did mass genocide in order to achieve it.
Also both Nazis and Stalin's Communists were extreme ends of their ideologies. Both had less evil interpretations (still terrible of course).
Really neither of them was lesser evil.
Again, I never said the outcome wasn't horrific.
But if you read through Nazi ideology it doesn't even pretend to be good.
Marxism-Leninism is different. From Wikipedia for example:
"
Marxism–Leninism holds that a two-stage communist revolution is needed to replace capitalism. A vanguard party, organized through democratic centralism, would seize power on behalf of the proletariat and establish a one-party socialist state, called the dictatorship of the proletariat. The state would control the means of production, suppress opposition, counter-revolution, and the bourgeoisie, and promote Soviet collectivism, to pave the way for an eventual communist society that would be classless and stateless.".
Now I know this reads like
1984 and obviously we know the destructive power that came to be. But truthfully it doesn't really say much about your fellow man. I suppose you could somehow justify this way of thinking and truly believe this would be best for everyone.
Nazi ideology on the other hand basically calls for eradicating or at least subjugating people based on race. It literally screams out it will hurt large segments of the population from the get-go.
