The USSR was awful for a lot of people. But the Cold War was also capitalism v communism. The USSR was bad, but it's not like Europe and the US were without blame.

Now literal Nazis, I mean, yeah, they were just pretty onedimensionally evil. There might have been a lot of reasons why they came to exist. But still. I can't think of a single redeeming quality other than that they had great costumes and make for great comic book villains.

Stalin wasn't exactly your average good guy though.
My point isn't really about the people involved. I'm sure there were awful people fighting for the allied forces.

But if you look at the ideals and goals of Nazi Germany, yeah well, that is sheer evil.

Now that you mention it, you should read Maus comic if you havent. The author never allowed rights for a TV show/movie. But it's a great comic, its about survival during the WWII.

The ideals and goals of Stalin's USRR were no less evil than Hitler's. It just happened that 2 devils decided to fight each other so one of them was included in the "good guys club".

Nazi being True Black, don’t make Stalins USSR white. Soviet’s broke the spines of the whole nations, millions dead of hunger and repression. Patton should’ve been allowed to bomb all the way to Vladivostok.

I never said Stalin's USSR was white. I didn't say that about Europe or the US either. But Marxism–Leninism is often regarded as the ideological foundation of the USSR. Do I agree with it? No. It led to an absolutely horrific outcome. Nazi ideology is something else though. The core belief is basically pure and unmitigated racism. I think it's quite rare for any ideology to not even pretend to exist for the greater good of people.

If you think about it, both idelogies are very similar just aimed differently. Nazis were basing their on racism, like you said. Communists did the same but based it on "classes". Both wanted to get the world rid of their enemy group and both did mass genocide in order to achieve it.

Also both Nazis and Stalin's Communists were extreme ends of their ideologies. Both had less evil interpretations (still terrible of course).

Really neither of them was lesser evil.

Again, I never said the outcome wasn't horrific.

But if you read through Nazi ideology it doesn't even pretend to be good.

Marxism-Leninism is different. From Wikipedia for example:

"Marxism–Leninism holds that a two-stage communist revolution is needed to replace capitalism. A vanguard party, organized through democratic centralism, would seize power on behalf of the proletariat and establish a one-party socialist state, called the dictatorship of the proletariat. The state would control the means of production, suppress opposition, counter-revolution, and the bourgeoisie, and promote Soviet collectivism, to pave the way for an eventual communist society that would be classless and stateless.".

Now I know this reads like 1984 and obviously we know the destructive power that came to be. But truthfully it doesn't really say much about your fellow man. I suppose you could somehow justify this way of thinking and truly believe this would be best for everyone.

Nazi ideology on the other hand basically calls for eradicating or at least subjugating people based on race. It literally screams out it will hurt large segments of the population from the get-go.
