He was playing a weird role. Like an attacking mid who was crucial going forward but also had to sprint back constantly to form the line of 4. Not a surprise he was subbed out, that Uruguay's coach would trust a 21 y/o with a role like that shows how highly he is rated in their camp.

Half of that video is not even Bentancur, it's Vecino lol.

Bentancur barely touched the ball all match. He was just running around in that god awful position as 4-3-1-2 CAM.

But he touched the ball a couple times deep in opposition final 3rd and one time he skinned a defender and the other he made a great no-look pass to Cavani. And Bentancur is supposed to be a DM so his talent is basically surplus to the requirements of the position.
