Jewvinco might be economically better than Van Persie for Arsenal, but if they have one more season of Wengerconomics they would have to start filling the places in the Emirates with PAID emigrants from India. Arsenal needs a bit less money and a whole bunch of trophies next. That single fact imho changes things with perspectives of value.
I might be dead wrong (I am kind of anti-famous here for misplacing my trust, again wrongly, against Giovinco), but the midget will never be as important for them in terms of trophies and double that in next season.

Only long term you should say, even if different characteristics as players, simply put RVP does what he does better then Cavani does it. Plus latter would cost so much more its silly.

I will allways find it bizzare how posters say give away Gio he will turn out great for them, but not for us. Heard now for Inter, Napoli and now Arsenal. Such a funny logic. Plus randomly suggesting to trade him with anyone too.

And dont get this Arsenal hate, besides Wenger being Wenger as usual, plus so many of you underrate RVP its unreal, would be unreal signing for us, to say the least (and wont go for less then 25m me thinks). But we wont sign him sadly. Hope City sign a striker soon so we might turn out to be only option :p
Good post! :)
I just like the thought of us signing van Persie. It would be crazy.

We'd benefit much more from Cavani, especially long-term.
Маybe, but Cavani is too expensive and overrated by their president. His real value is no more than 35m IMO. On the others side, 25m for a proven 29 year old player in the name of RvP is not overpaying.

Look at his history, he plays like 20 matches each season. It was only this season when he played all the matches. He had like 15-25 matches in league, which is less than Aquilani for example who's always labeled as the glass. He's also hitting his 30s.

Did I ever question his abilities as a player? Not really, I think he's an amazing player. But with many flaws when you look at the transfer overall.

Thats ok. I only wanted to say that I would rather sign RvP for 25m than Cavani for 20m + Gio + Matri.

with rvp its just impossible not to look at his inj. record. He has from 2005 on avg. played about a half season each year.

http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/robin-van-persie/leistungsdaten-detail/spieler_4380.html

When he does play he scores goals, so it could be worth the risk. But paying 25m+ for a player with such a record would be a huge gamble.

if he wants to leave, and considering hes contract is expiering in 1 year, 15m should be enough to secure him. Maybe psg or malaga would pay more but i dont think he would go there, so they dont matter.

BREAKING NEWS: Robin van Persie has announced he will not be extending his contract at Arsenal. (Sky Sports)

Robin van Persie has announced he will not be extending his contract at Arsenal, with a statement on his official website reading: "I’ve thought long and hard about it, but I have decided not to extend my contract. You guys, the fans, have of course the right to disagree with my view and decision and I will always respect your opinions."

This is an update for the fans about my current situation. I have kept quiet all this time out of respect and loyalty for the club and as agreed with Mr. Gazidis and Mr. Wenger, but since there is so much speculation in the media, I think it is fair for you guys to know what’s really going on at the moment.

As announced earlier this year I had a meeting with the Boss and Mr. Gazidis after the season. This was a meeting about the club’s future strategy and their policy. Financial terms or a contract have not been discussed, since that is not my priority at all.

I personally have had a great season but my goal has been to win trophies with the team and to bring the club back to its glory days. Out of my huge respect for Mr. Wenger, the players and the fans I don’t want to go into any details, but unfortunately in this meeting it has again become clear to me that we in many aspects disagree on the way Arsenal FC should move forward.

I’ve thought long and hard about it, but I have decided not to extend my contract. You guys, the fans, have of course the right to disagree with my view and decision and I will always respect your opinions.

I love the club and the fans, no matter what happens. I have grown up and became a man during my time with Arsenal FC. Everybody at the club and the fans have always supported me over the years and I have always given my all (and more) on and off the pitch. I am very proud of being part of this fantastic club for the last 8 years. As soon as Mr. Gazidis is back from his 2-week holiday in America further meetings will follow and I will update you if and when there are more developments.
