I really don't need us to compete for the few world's best players. There are enough talent for us too. If we can't attract the best players form abroad why don't we focus on players from smaller clubs or leagues with tones of potential? Here I mean Jovetic or Suarez for example. There are much less competition for such players so that we do not have to go for bloody bidding war. Bayern was doing so for years and they've usually been champions in Bundesliga and gone far in Champions League. Moreover, they've had their annual balances green for 19 consecutive seasons!

Ask yourselves, who are genuinly the world class players in Serie A, be stumped after the brief list, and then you will realize The Swan of Utrecht is just saying what every top player is thinking and have been thinking for years (check the top 20-30 best paid players).
Depends on your definition of world class and how you rate individual players, of course.

I feel that there are significantly fewer really good players around than there were in years gone by.

With ther being fewer good players to go around, I'd venture to say that Real Madrid and Barca probably account for at least one third of the top class players in the world just now.

Van Basten: "RVP would be great for Juve, one who would make the difference, but Serie-A doesn't attract the great champions anymore."

Exactly. It's a sad fact but Calciopoli totally fucked this league. Until Italian teams pick up their act and start building new stadiums and cleaning up the image of calcio, expect most of the big names to ignore this league.

Not convinced that Calciopoli was a major factor for Serie A as a whole.

It may mark the point the league fell behind, but don't think it was the cause.

Calciopoli was more like a final grip around Serie-A's throat that squeezed the remaining life out of her fragile, yet delicious body :depressed

“Van Persie is world class,” Milan legend Gullit told Tuttosport when asked about the transfer speculation.

“Juventus would certainly be making a great swoop by buying him. He’s a player who can change the face of Antonio Conte’s side.
“Should he join Juventus then they would have a stellar attack with few rivals in the world. I’m not surprised by the transfer speculation surrounding Van Persie.”
