Tops huh? Might aswell give up on trying to get a top striker if we wont be willing to put in the heavy investment that it will require.
You've got to consider the situation each top player is linked with. That's one of the primary reasons why, most big names change teams towards the end of the mercato because their situations change on a fairly quick basis. RVP, being 29 and on the last year of his contract cannot warrant that kind of transfer fee, so the club need to consider id they spend that kind of money, should they be looking at a younger, less fragile player. The reason RvP is of interest to us, is because of his situation. Last year of his contract means we should get him for under 30m, which is really the most amount of money we will perhaps spend on an individual player given the structure of the club and the FFP coming into effect.

Moggi bought Nedved from Lazio (aged 28/29) for 41m €

:numnum:
You should not compare the Nedved signing with Van Persie. Nedved was signed from a rival in Serie A, obviously he is going to cost more.
To be exact his transfer fee was 36.256.000 £. (http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/pavel-nedved/transfers/spieler_3603.html)
His hefty price tag even though when he was 29 was due to several reason.

- Signing from Rival Team in Serie A
- Not in his final year of contract
- Doesn't have a bad injury record as RVP
- Is a proven leader for club and country
- Familiar with the league, less risk compared to RVP

If you look at it there is so many plus points, compared to RVP. I think for a player on his final year, from a different league , even though he came from a fantastic season I don't think we will be offering more than 25mil.

Do you want a profilic player just for the sake of it? Anything over €30 mill for RVP is bad business for us.

We should be smart, not just pay up whatever price they are asking for.

He's gonna send Robin Van Poesje back to London like a bag of glass shards that's left of his skeleton...

If I were Juve, I wouldn't pay an old lira for his remains.

But in the Rochambeau of international football, the Netherlands always choke to Portugal. :seven:
Well, Van Poesje didn't need Bruno Alves to destroy him. He got him to do it to himself. :seven:

People need to get with the times. We are in fucking 2012. If someone like Lewnadowski is going to cost 20 Million Euros, then RVP is probably going to go for 30, and that's cuz he's nearing 30 and on the final year of his contract. Had he been 27, and with 3 years left on his contract, he'd cost upwards of 40. That's just the market for you.

It's all fine and dandy to keep splashing 12-15 million on good players (not world class), but if you want to get world class ass, you need to splash the cash. It's as simple as that. Marotta needs to realize this before going out and promising a top player, only for us to end up with Dzeko (who is a good, but not a top player, and definitely not World Class)!

Vucinic cost 15 million Euros, and he's nowhere near as consistent or as prolific as RVP; moreover, he plays for a shitty national team so hardly gets exposure in major tournaments :p

The bottom line is RVP for 28-30 Million is a fair deal, and much better than Dzeko for 20!
