We are a forward thinking club; all the other clubs seem to be run by "Arab Style" dictators who only give a fuck about money and themselves. Best of luck to them rotting in the abyss of darkness for the next decade or so. I feel no pity or sympathy for the likes of Milan, Inter, or Roma. They greatly benefited from our demise, now it's time to reap what they sowed for the injustice that we suffered. Fuckers!

There is no probably about it.

That season was probably the last year of an era where Serie A was to be considered on par with the best leagues in the world. A league where the star players still wanted to come and play. It was also a league where the old guards of Serie A weren't old at all. Del Piero had just crossed the 30 year old plateau, Trez was still in his prime, Nedved was still a beast at 32, that defense was absolutely brilliant, Buffon was at the top of the world, a young Ibrahimovic, and that is just for Juve.

Look at the absolute superstars that were on Milan, Roma, Inter, during that time.

That was the end of a splendid era, so regardless of what this year's Juve squad did this season, which was beyond expectation and beyond brilliant, if you put them up against the 05/06 team, they would get destroyed.
:sergio: that team that drawn 5x in CL group, had many many 1-0 late win serie A mediocre clubs at that time, trashed by not so top english clubs in 2 years consecutively

nedved was in decline, compare him with when he single handedly led us to CL final and won the serie A in 03, he was already in decline
emerson - viera were not that much better than vidal - marchisio this season actually
camoranesi was quite so so at that time

defense was actually not that far ahead than with this season, we had zebina back then with camo who can't actually defend to cover our right flank, believe it or not vucinic-chiellini-marchisio may give that kind right flank troubles just like when the english sides exploited it back then... the centre and left side of the defense surely have some edge compared to current team but not enough to guarantee domination.

but it was the mid that truly sucked back then, the traditional 2 DMF + 2 SMF employed by capello was already outdated by then, which was the main cause why we sucked in europe... and if emerson - viera was so much better than vidal - marchisio, we would have not been overrun by english side at that time! I still remember that match against liverpool, what a nightmare in the 1st half :sergio: so much for the claim of having world class team!

the only clear difference is of course in attacker department... so obvious, but, what good of it if it didn't deliver? IIRC none of our attacker was near the top of the capocanonieri either! how could that be when 2 years older trez-alex did it in 08?

capello's juve is so vastly over rated.

I don't think Capello's Juve would've "destroyed" Conte's Juve. It would've been a very tight game. Capello's Juve had something more when it came to finishing off difficult opponents, winning tight games etc., so I think Capello's Juve would edge a victory. But not like 10 out of 10 times or anything like that. Conte's Juve would've trolled that team a couple of times at least. Especially considering the difficulties Capello's Juve experienced against very physical opponents (Liverpool, Arsenal, Werder Bremen etc.).

Capello's Juve did know how to win games for sure but at times I found watching a snail make it's way from one end of my garden to the other at times more entertaining. Without a doubt with this Juve designed by conte is much more exciting. More drive! More fluidity in our play! Much more appealing to the eye. Be interesting to see how we'll cope in Europe. Hopefully we'll show balls like we did in the days when conte played under Lippi. Loved them days!!

Arsenal set to sign Olivier Giroud for £12m from Montpellier

Arsenal are close to completing a deal to sign Montpellier striker and France international Olivier Giroud for £12m.

The Gunners are expected to confirm the 25-year-old's arrival this week.

Manager Arsene Wenger intends to play him alongside fellow new signing Lukas Podolski and Dutch striker Robin van Persie in a front three.

The 6ft 3ins forward, who was an unused substitute in France's 1-1 Euro 2012 draw with England, scored 21 goals in his club's run to the Ligue 1 title.

Giroud is one of only two recognised strikers in the French squad, alongside Karim Benzema. He has six caps for his country and one goal.

Earlier this week, Montpellier manager Rene Girard told French radio station RMC that Wenger was leading a chase of top clubs for the striker.

"Arsenal are very interested and Giroud wants to play in England, if Arsene agrees with the president, he will sign for them," he said.

Despite speculation about the future of Van Persie, who is out of contract next summer, it is understood Arsenal want to sign Giroud to play alongside him, rather than as a replacement.
