I like how you used the word "were" because as it is now (you also said it, the team looks better) we don't have to rebuild, we only need to enhance. Which brings us to the fact that we need to prioritze established players that can make a difference now and leave the Pereyra-like players for later depending on what we have money left.
We can't pass on the opportunities that would strengthen us further. From Padoin to Pereyra is a big difference, as we witnessed last year when we desperately required that quality backup mid and it seems that we are not wasting any money, since it is a loan deal. I really cannot see the big issue with this. Our bench was atrocious, full of players that can't be relied on, temporary signings with primary function to fill the gaps.

Pereyra is a good deal, unless you look to peasant eyes.

Its a squat player, the can cover the central midfield and both wings, and we only have to pay for him next year, when we'll have much more budged then this summer

But there are people offcourse who believe we could have signed Sanchez instead, and bitch and moan about everything

Pirlo, Vidal, Asamoah (now that Evra is supposedly arriving), Pogba, Marchisio, Marrone, Padoin. That's seven midfielders for you and Pereyra is the eighth. Next year we should make sure we reach 10 midfielders to have that incredible strong bench.

In reality there are only 4 and one of them is 35 yo. Asamoah only once played in the middle and it looks like he will be used as a LB as altenative to Evra, while the other two are not good enough. Pereyra can cover variety of positions, cm, am, lw, rw.

Thank you for convincing me that he is another Padoin who can play in several positions and not good in any of them.

Jorge Martinez was a good deal, he really seemed worth the 12m at the time and really it was a great deal in the end.

To the critics. Taking into consideration the enormous difficulties Serie-A clubs find themselves at the moment (in particular, financially), how would you (realistically) like our management to operate in the transfer market?

I just want to understand the alternative routes you think we should be taking, so that I can better see where you're coming from.
