Hm, our staff must have seen something in him you didn't while stll expressing your opinion. You do know that our staff actually watch matches of the players we are trying to sign, no?
Pointless and childish post. Its like you are trying to convince yourself, well duh ofcourse they seen him more, doesnt mean they cant make wrong signings. And yeah this is a forum where we give our opinions, good that you caught up on that.

Marotta and co. has made many wrong signings as well as good ones. Pereyra is not the kind of player you get to watch often since he plays for Udinese and isn't exactly a goal scoring type of winger.

Pereyra would be an excellent signing. Just the type of player this team needs, one capable of covering multiple positions in the middle and good backups are necessary when one or two starting mids picks up an injury, or are in need of a rest, which is likely to happen throughout the season. Seen him plenty of times this year and almost always gave me a good impression. DDTS

People complain because we don't rotate our players and our bench sucks.

We are about to get a solid option for rotation, OMG Pereyra is average, as if we were going to sign Yaya Toure for the bench.

I wont say anything about this guy because I've never seen him play, but does anyone remember when we bought Camo? From Verona? I can only imagine similar arguments went on.

Pereyra covers a lot of positions, is young and relatively cheap. Remember when we all shat ourselves when Vidal, Marchisio or Pirlo was injured and we knew our only back-up left was Padoin (nothing against Padoin btw, he's massively underrated and perfect third choice backup, but he really shoud only be third choice)?

Except Pereyra is a winger, not a CM, just like Padoin is a SM and not a CM, woefully unsuitable for that, versatility means little if you can barely function in your extra role.

And Camo comparison is bit sillly, Camo did damage in Verona, I remember his performances there, even if he turned out better then peeps hoped, he was a real G with Verona.

Him and Mutu was crazy combo for a while there:

How is Pereyra a winger when 95% of the games this season he was in the middle, either as AMC or CM.

Pereyra a winger , just leave it Osman, you really are clueless here. Guy has been used mostly as CM, but occasionally featured as a wide mid.

I can't remember exactly but didn't Pereyra play at CM against us?

Because Udinese more or less mirrored our formation only it was more of a 3-5-1-1
Of course he did and that's his preferred position.

Played a more central role this year, even more attacking. Started as a winger.

AM or winger (his natural position), drifting off the lone forward with freedom, but not really a good CM (conservative approach vs the best team in league doesnt tell the whole picture). This is not the first season I seen him play. He wont play as a CM for us as first position, just wait and see, will be used out wide.

And yet only handful of games he played on the wing, and even when on rare occasions he did play out wide, he was more as wide mid behind Fernandes or Muriel, while those two supported Di Natale. More than 90% games Pereyra was used between AM and CM role, at times playing as one of the two CMs. He can play on the wing, but doesn't have the end product good enough to make a difference.

Thats also true for AM (CM is just a position he hides in when I seen deeper, doesnt do anything defensively, and just adequate with the ball). In away games they played him behind lone striker (before Fernandes started getting more minutes), and he seriously added little else but speed on the counter offensively. How is he someone we will use as CM rotation, for what skillset in that department are we getting him? As winger, for both sides in previous season, he was used as LM and RM and was atleast ok with his pace there, even if as you said didnt add much offensively except exploit some space (reminded me a bit of Estigarribia).
