It helps the bench. We got rid of heavy wages and got players who can play and rest our big boys. 4-5 ya. Things is, we need a guy who can start(AM). That's very important to make this a much better mercato. A solid young CB that can play in a 4 man D and we could go 8-9/10 mercato.

This mercato is a let down. Until today we've still not made this team any better. We've never needed depth, we are very deep and stacked. I mean, we've even become more deep with the formation change since we now use only 2 central defenders and guys like Asamoah move into the midfield. We've been lacking that offensive spark and we need to address is.

But why do we need another cb? We shouldn't touch the defense imo. After closing in on Pereyra we should go out for an AM/winger and the close the mercato. We still could sell some unwanted players but that'd be about it.

The way I see it as for now:

Buffon/Storari
Licht/Caceres - Barzagli/Bonucci - Chiellini/Ogbonna - Evra/Asamoah
Vidal/Marchisio - Pirlo/Marone - Pogba/Asamoah
???/Pereyra/Coman?
Llorente/Morata - Tevez/Giovinco

Caceres could play as LB too or even Ogbonna.
Bench: Isla, Pepe, Padoin - those could be sold but not all of them I guess.

That's what I am saying, so far it is barely a 4 or 5.

Barzagli won't be out for long and as for Bonucci - I don't think we've got a choice here. Is anyone interested in him? No point keeping him on the bench, we should sell then.

IMO we still lack massively a creative threat upfront. Only Tevez is able to carry our game right now. That's very bad IMO and we've seen why last season.

Marrone would be a deep cover for the mid. Marchisio and Asa would be always ahead of him anyway. No matter which position we'd need to fill.
