Going by his eye at ManCity and to some extent Inter, he does seem like he knows the difference between top drawer and mid table. Unlike the epidemic that is Beppe Marrotta.

Nedved backs Mancini for Juve job

Juventus director Pavel Nedved has backed Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini to replace Gigi Del Neri, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

The sense in Italy is that Del Neri's contract will be terminated in June after a disappointing first season in charge of the Old Lady.

Nedved is said to favour Mancini's candidacy and the fact he is a close friend of Juventus President Andrea Agnelli means his opinions will be taken into close consideration.

Juventus recognise that it won't be easy to lure Mancini away from Manchester City, not least because the Premier League outfit has great financial clout.

If City were to win the FA Cup this season and qualify for the Champions League, Mancini's stature would grow exponentially making a change of bench almost impossible.

Nedved was a teammate of Mancini's at Lazio and rates the former Inter tactician highly.

Juventus general manager Beppe Marotta and director of sport Fabio Paratici have reportedly discussed Mancini with his agent Giorgio De Giorgis.
