Bettega ends 13-year Juve reign Friday 22 June, 2007

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After weeks of speculation it has been confirmed that Roberto Bettega – the last member of the Triade – has left Juventus.

The club released a statement this evening announcing the end of Bettega’s reign in Turin after 13 years as a director and most recently consultant.

“Juventus and Roberto Bettega announce that in the next few days their collaboration will end, a relationship that for a long time was a source of reciprocal satisfaction,” said the note.

“Bettega salutes with his heart the Family, Juventus and its fans, who have been an unforgettable part of his life.

“Juventus salute Bettega with sincere affection for his effort and passion with which he dedicated himself to the club. We wish him every success in the future.”

Although the former player – who wore the jersey from 1970 to 1983 for 481 appearances – was no longer technically a part of the board of directors, Bettega was still working for the Bianconeri as a consultant.

He was the only remaining figure from the controversial Triade, as director general Luciano Moggi and general manager Antonio Giraudo were ousted in the wake of the Calciopoli scandal.

Bettega was Vice-President of the club from 1994 to 2006, during which Juve dominated Italian football and had success on an international scale.

It had been reported that he was pushed out after demands from Marco Tardelli, but this week he too quit the board of directors.

F*CK!!!

Thanks Bobby for everything. :pint:

He was an integral part of this years mercato and we better find a replacement just as good as him.

It's clear our management wanted to get rid of everything linked to the old management. Should they rename the club too?

Talks about Cabrini are surfacing. He's worse than Tardelli with comments that don't make sense and everything.

Bring in Sartori, Baldini(nah),what the hell...bring back Capello. :p

I think they'll stick with the Secco, Blanc, Ranieri trio.

Sad to see him go, but I guess without the other duo, he wasnt the same and neither was proberly the respect for him. It all went down hill for a respected juventino.. For me personally though it feels like a part of juve has left. Forza Roberto and wish you all the best in the future.

Is there a man on the planet, now that the Agnellis have passed away (God bless them), that loves Juventus more than Roberto Bettega? What the hell is going on? They should be able to affix at least a smaller role for him! Is it he who wants out? Is he tired? I demand answers :(

Edit: That man must be Boniperti

He doesn't want out at all, but the current managment as Mark said doesn't want anybody related to the old managment even if he had nothing to do with anything.

Anyway, we can do nothing but wishing him a very good luck, and wishing his son a very prosperous career to keep his father's head always high.
