Pires won't be expensive. The fact that he is being linked to Galataseray proves that.

I have no problem getting a 32 year old if he can last a couple of seasons, is world class and we can get him cheap.

That is Pires for you. Therefore, if we decide to loan out Olivera and given that Kapo` is already loaned out, Pires is a great alternative because he can play on both flanks. That way, we only need 7 midfielders this season:

Camoranesi, Emerson, Vieira, Nedved, Pires, Giannicheda and Blasi.

Worst case scenario is if Neddy and Camo both get injured....then we still have Zambo and Chiellini who can play as wingers too. therefore, I think Juve would have plenty of depth on the flanks if Pires arrived.

Juve Want Arsenal’s Pires Too
7/14/2005 4:18:00 AM
As well as pursuing their interest in Patrick Vieira, Juventus are also being linked with Arsenal’s Robert Pires - according to his agent.
Stephane Courbis claims that the Old Lady are chasing Pires after dismissing rumours of a move to Galatasaray.

Courbis told Turkish newspaper Vatan: “We haven’t got an offer from that club. Right now Juventus is the only interested party. The price of our player is £2.75 million a year.

“Lowering the price is not an issue you can discuss.

“It is not possible that Pires can go to any club in Turkey.”

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger was not aware of Gala’s interest either.

“We haven’t got an offer from their manager nor anybody else. I am hearing for the first time that Galatasaray are interested.”

However, Galatasaray’s vice-president, Turgay Kiran, insists that the club are serious bidders for Pires.

He said: “The talks are going on. Since Pires lowered his price, the chance of a deal going through is getting higher.”

Pires, 32, was offered a one-year contract by Wenger, but the former Marseille star wants a two-year deal.

Neddy/Pires/Dp/Thuram might all retire two years from now,

Canna/Treze/Emo/Vieira to follow soon,
we might have a crisis then,
so we must win the CL before that happens

Juve-Pires, nuovo contatto
19 09 2005

it basicaly says that arsene wenger doesnt want to let go of pires for free unless its a team outside of england

I've always liked Pires, but I think Ljungberg would be a better buy :D he can play anywhere in midfield and he is great :D
Then Ljungberg would fight with Viera.

Juventus have made fresh contact with the agent of Arsenal midfielder Robert Pires.
The Frenchman almost signed for Juve last summer, only for the Gunners' demand of a sizeable fee wrecking the deal.

However, they're now more open to allowing Pires to move on and Italian media reports suggest his agent has informed Juve that the London club will let him go so long as he doesn't join a rival Premiership club.

Pires issues Juventus plea Friday 11 November, 2005

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Robert Pires has revealed that he wants to sign for Juventus. "If they come in for me, I‘m ready," said the Arsenal man.

Pires was the subject of intense media speculation in the summer after refusing to extend his Arsenal contract and he’s confirmed that he came very close to signing for Juventus at the time.

"I spoke with Juventus in the summer," he told the Corriere dello Sport. "But I still had a year to go on my contract and Arsene Wenger didn’t want me to go."

The Gunners sold their captain Patrick Vieira to Juve in the summer in a surprise move and the additional loss of France teammate Pires would have been hard for the club and its supporters to swallow.

Pires admits that he was highly tempted by Luciano Moggi’s proposal and now, with his contract running out, plans for a summer exit are likely to be made this January.

"I have to say that when a big club comes calling the temptation is huge," he added. "I will meet with Wenger and the club to discuss matters in January and we will decide then."

The 32-year-old has also attracted the interest of Fiorentina, but has made no secret of his preferred destination.

"Italy is an extraordinary country," added the winger. "I say that as a football fan and as a tourist."

Pires then added: "Juve is a big club and if they came back in for me, I’d be ready
