Juventus general manager Luciano Moggi has confirmed the Turin giants have no intention of moving for Robert Pires.

The Italian champions were strongly linked with the mercurial Frenchman in the summer but had to settle for Arsenal team-mate Patrick Vieira prior to the close of the transfer window.

Juve have been linked with rekindling their interest in the new year, with Pires failing to cement an automatic first team place this season, but this has now been dismissed by Moggi.

''We are not interested in him,'' said Moggi. ''But he might be interesting for a few other Italian sides anyway.''

Meanwhile, Juve stopper Fabio Cannavaro has reiterated the club's stance that the UEFA Champions League represents their priority competition this season.

''In attack we are very good, with players like David Trezeguet and Del Piero - who both score a lot,'' said Cannavaro.

''This year is full of engagements, with the league, the cup and the World Cup.

''Should I choose a target, I would say the Champions League. Supporters hope it and we want it strongly.

''Last season against Liverpool, we weren't the real Juve and our elimination was the only negative of last year.''

Pires is pretty darned good at arriving late in the box though, over the years he's scored a hatful just by picking up loose balls in a late run into the box.
