both great actors, comparing them is like comparing apples and oranges, imo - one just doesn't do it :p

if I were to go by the number of great movies, milestones-in-film-making great, then De Niro would be my clear winner.
Go to a grocery store and see the price of one kg of apples and one kg of oranges, and you can easily compare.

Donnie Brasco was amazing. My fav Al Pacino movie would be Godfather part two. And my fav De Niro movie would be Deer Hunter, that's awesome movie.

Am I the only one who really liked Pacino in You don't know Jack?
No, you are not the only one. And roles like these are why I prefer Pacino to De Niro. Not just this role, but the role he played as Roy Cohn in Angels in America was brilliant

That's a point, where are the fearsome Italian-American actors now?
Leonardo DiCaprio, who, when all is said and done, with the amount of versatile roles he has played over the past 3 decades, could very well end up in the same pantheon as Pacino and DeNiro

DiCaprio might have had versatile roles, but only lately has he really stepped up and executed them as you'd expect of a top actor. Imo he is ages behind the legends

He's great, one of my favorite actors together with Norton. I've loved all his movies basically.

But then again he's still only 37.

And look at some of the roles that he has had, even in his younger days. This Boy's Life, What's eating Gilbert Grape (He stole all the scenes that he was in), The Basketball Diaries........... he's beendoing challenging roles since he first started out.

I agree. He might very well have a ticket into the pantheon of the legends at some point, but it's not enough - atleast for me. The Aviator is the first movie where he really blew me away.

And also, in regards to DiCaprio, look at the versatility of the roles that he played from 2002-2006. Catch me if you can, Gangs of New York, The Aviator, The Departed, Blood Diamond.

Splendid work in all of them, with Catch me if you can being my favorite of the bunch.
