Micoud played, but Frings went to the spot.

Werder: Reinke - Owomoyela, Pasanen, Naldo, Andreasen - Baumann, Frings, Vranjes (60' D.Jensen), Micoud - Klose, Klasnic (65' Hunt)

Quite frankly I'm worried by few things about Werder.

1) Set pieces. From close range Micoud is pretty lethal, while Naldo and Pasanen :)tup:) have incredibly tough shots when it comes to the long range efforts. Remember how Bayern scored against Juve at Delle Alpi? Those kind of bouncy, lucky shots too form a realistic and totally unpredictable threat.

2) Their strong midfield. Dynamic Baumann won't let Vieira too much of a space, he's very underrated in my opinion. Micoud and Frings can play pretty well both ways, while Power-Pekka is an unhidden force at the bench. (Ok, the last part was a joke ;)) Back to the topic, Borowski is good too, they've got pretty nice depth on that department.

Things that I'm not worried about:

1) Unlike the others, I say their attack. Klasnic and specially Klose are overrated, and quite frankly I can't see Cannavaro, Émerson and Thuram having any problems with them. Valdez has quick feet, but that's it, he's not the finisher-type that clinches the big victories.

2) Their defense. Pasanen is very good stopper, but their problem is their experience. For example Naldo plays in vital position, but is still very young and prone to mistakes that they can't afford. Trezeguet simply won't have mercy. Apart from Pasanen, I've been impressed by young Owomoyela, but their other flank doesn't really impress me. Camoranesi and Zlatan can tear them apart.

Summa summarum, I'm quite confident that Juve will go through. 1-1 or 1-2 at away game and victory at Delle Alpi will see Juve going through.

I can't wait for the Champ league to continue, of course I wanna see Juve but I guess even more I'm waiting for the Barca - Chelsea clash.

Unbelievable to be drawn out just as the players were commenting about it.

My take on those still left on cl are

Milan: they do have the players to go on and win it and to be honest they play the kind of football that can win it
Assets: Great midfield with guile and combativeness, pace and deadliness in attack
Weakness: aged defence that is suspect in the air and the psychological effect of last season
Inter: They too have the capability of winning it as well
Assets: Great pace in attack, balance in midfield with invention and guile
Weakness:Not the best of defences, suspect temperament on big occasions, you never know which Inter will turn up
Lack of genuine success for so long
Juventus: They have the squad to win it and certainly better equipped than last year
Assets: Better midfield options than last year, very good forward players and a reliable defence
Weakness: capello, abject inability to change a losing situation into a winning one against the better teams
Lack of genuine pace thru the squad, Thuram's lapses in concentration and full back positions still unsure
Chelsea: Have the capabilty and personnel to win it
Assets: An incredible array of talent in almost all positions, Jose Mourinho
Weakness: Probably the lack of genuine creativity when the going gets tough
Liverpool: Much better squad than last year and they won it last year and i believe they can do it agin, this time to me it wont be a shock
Assets: a manager who is quite capable of bringing out the the very best that he has at his disposal, pace all through the team
Weakness: Not too sure about the goal keeper and the fact that no team would take them as lightly as they were taken last season which in my view helped them last season
Werder Bremen: Would be a huge shock if they win it
AssetS: They have a strike force and midfield full of goals
weakness: they tend to ship them in as well and thats does not help if you are playing against the very best strikers
Bayern Munich: they are quite capable of winning it
assets : they are compact thru out the team with Ballack the jewel in their crown and also rhe fact that world cup is being held there might have a good effect on German teams this season
Weakness: when the going gets tough Mackaay goes missing and kahn makes mistakes
Barcelona: can they win it? hell yeah
Assets: the most talented squad in the competition, they have so much skill and so much pace and with Ronaldinho they got the world's best
Weakness: Not a world class goal keeper and they always would have to outscore the opposition as defence aint great but it aint bad
Real; Madrid? Cannot see them winning it as there is not team there just individuals
Assets: World class individuals who on a given day can kill ya
Weakness: No team in sight
Villareal: Done well to get this far but cannot see them winning iot
Assets: Riqelme and a very compact team
Weakness: Do not score too much at this level
Arsenal: Cannot see them winning it at all but then again i did not see Liverppol last season
Assets: All round pace through the side and play good football on their day
Weakness: no backbone in midflield and frankly not good enuff to do the ugly stuff like Liverpool did, not a lot of cynicism in this side
Psv: Not as good as last season and cannot see them winning it
assets: Very good manager
Weakness: Not too many match winners
Ajax: Have done admirably considering their plight
assets: Good young talents and pace
Weakness: lack of experience
Lyon: They are seen as dark horses by some, we shall see
Assets: Incredible pace thruout the team , play great football and work as a team without egos it seems
Weakness: May have peaked too soon as they seem to do all the time and are probably too open to win against teams like the Italians. Also I do not trust Houllier
Benfica: They wont win it
Assets: Not many i can think of maybe perhaps they will be underated
Weakness: they are not good enuff
Rangers: Done well to be here
Assets: they will give it a go
Weakness they are not good at all, with some lousy buys by Mccleish
