I used to follow french football closely, while in france i saw a few games of rio. He is not yet the great midfield general, but he certainly could be.

He isnt a full time holding midfielder.
He isnt a playmaking regista. (Veron / Pirlo)

He does have good pace and is strong, particularily in the tackle. He is good at providing energy going forward ala gerrard.

But he isnt the complete article. Still rough with his passing.

The comparisons with Tigana are reasonable as apposed to viera or Makele.
you see thats a key point for me, we are already weak in that department and we can't rely on paro, marchisio and zanetti to do that.

If his passing isn't up to standard then we will struggle in the midfield if we were to depend on him
Why do people judge players after one game? That way you can call any player crap. Scout´s job is to watch promising players for AT LEAST 6 MONTHS to give a proper report on him and you think you know everything about Mavuba after one game.

Why does DD want him then? Why does Manchester United want him then? Why does he play regularly in Bordeaux then? Why is he being called up in France national team then?

For fuck sake..... :disagree:
you know that its crap, he could be linked with all the clubs in the world and it all would be paper talks and he would still be just a "Great" prospect. And how many players were called up for NTs and we didn't hear of them again.

That doesn't give any kind of indication about the quality he could bring to this team.

If hes good then he will need to be consistent, considering that he will be brought in with big expectations for next season.

Juventus are closing in on Bordeaux midfielder Rio Mavuba.
The young Frenchman is a favourite of Juve coach Didier Deschamps and was spotted in Turin last Thursday.

Mavuba and his agent were reportedly seen in Turin which fuelled suggestions of a possible meeting with Juventus.

DD already said Mavuba wasn't in Turin, but another player was.
