Though success has not been the norm during my stay there, I have left a most tangible mark in the Peninsula and was adored by my fans. Besides, Continental consecration did ultimately materialize for me in another beautiful country. I have been on the scoresheet of a World Cup final and I have won a World Cup. All in all, not many players can claim to have had a "fuller" career than mine.

Who be I?

Well done. It took a "German" to find it.

He was idolised in Rome but won very little with them (a Coppa or two, and he lost the 91 Uefa Cup final to Inter).
He moved to la belle France, where he reached the peak of his club career by winning the CL with Marseille.
He scored a goal in West Germany's lost WC 1986 final against Argentina only to lift the trophy 4 years later.
So yeah not many have had a "fuller" career than Rudi Völler.

Dan, you have the floor.

I started my years in what is well known as 'europes youth academy'. I started as a hot young player, and was favoured many times for my national team over other talented players. i earned a high profile transfer, but ultimately failed to impress. I now play at a average club, despite having a CL final on my resume.

Who am I?
