He is a very good defender, but these Nesta/Maldini comparisons need to stop. It's like comparing Bellingham to Zidane - nonsense.

There are three main reasons why losing out on him will hurt us though:

1.) It seems he really wanted to join us and would have remained loyal to the cause - having an Italian CB as a foundation piece/cornerstone of the defense has always been part of our identity/DNA

2.) He was relatively affordable in terms of both transfer fees and wages, and finding someone like him again might be far more costly

3.) We might end up losing Bremer next summer, and then we'll need two new CBs because the others are either absolute garbage (Gatti) or too raw (Huijsen)

While I agree with you and really want us to go all out to get Calafiori, I think Huijsen will step up in 2026 and not be considered raw by then.

I'm hoping someway, somehow, this was all media bs made up by Bologna to raise the price and we end up bagging Calafiori.

I don’t get why Arsenal would spend 50M on someone that would basically be a backup, they already have a strong duo
I think they will use him primarily as a LB. And have him step into midfield from there. I watched almost all Bolognas matches this season, and I think he is okay as LB, but strongest at LCB. So I also don’t get it. But PL clubs can spend 50 mil on a backup, so he will probably be backup for Gabriel and get some starters as LB.

Heard from a very reliable friend that told me the Bologna SD basically stated that he refused to sell him to Juve.

Any truth to that?
Juve were supposedly offering €25m/€30m max, maybe including players also… English clubs can be expected to offer €50m when some of their top defenders are going for €80m… Bologna basically needed Calafiori to show that he could do for Italy what he was doing at Bologna last season, which he did

Im good to pass on Cauliflower if we decides to give hujisen a chance.. I rated hujisen highly, i think he suits motta system very well and if we continue developing him i can see him worth 50M+ in a couple years

I think he will flop in premier league. His best chance to become a legend was coming to Juventus. Why because this club makes italian defenders legends. In premier league Arsenal or Chelsea he will be just another number there and with the hostile fanbase he'll crack at the first inconvenience .

I really wanted him in Juve. After Merda took Bastoni we are lacking and Italian defender that can be a leader in the next 10+ years.

Kiwior does not impress me at all so I hope if we are not getting calafiori we will try to sign someone else to be partner with Bremer.

All in All if he decides to go to premier league fuck him.

If Koopmeiners was Brazilian they would call him a Lolzillian. But since he’s Dutch he can waltz around the pitch like his shit don’t stink and score the occasional long bomb or tap in.

Gonna be funny to watch Calafiori try to dribble his way out in the high press of the Prem.

that's a good point, but koop isn't that level at all. and he's very expensive too
No one is on the level of the midfield I quoted, that was one of the best and most balanced midfields of any team ever. Still doesn’t change my point tho. If we have Koop along with DL and KT, that’s potentially the best midfield we’ve had together since. And nicely balanced too.

I’m a bit cautious about players coming from Atalanta no doubt, but Koop has always impressed me whenever I’ve seen him, and he’s ALWAYS played well against us. And the fact that there’s been interest in him from Liverpool and United and he only wants us. Big marks in my book - especially for a foreign player.
