It's quite simple.

The deal to sign Ziegler was agreed when Delneri was in charge and he wanted Ziegler.

Conte does not want/rate Ziegler, so there is no point in keeping Ziegler, paying his wages and having him hanging around if he's never going to play.

Not that unusual a situation, it's just that Juve have acted, while most clubs would hang on to the unwanted player for a few months at least.

I don't see the problem with the deal.
Then why didn't Marotta buy a left back that Conte approves of when it was possible to buy players?

So why didn't they get rid of him much sooner instead of putting themselves in this position? Its not like Conte just realized he didn't want him a few days ago. Obviously they thought that the team needed a new LB or else they would not have brought Ziegler in the first place.

Whatever Conte thinks about Ziegler, surely he wants a new LB.

Anyway, any prospects from the primavera? Pol Garcia, is he a fullback?
Yes Pol Garcia is, doubt he is ready at 16 although he is highly thought of. There is also Liviero who we saw in an EL game last year, he looked out of his depth.

I hope Conte won't improvise and move Chiellini to the left like Del Neri did, it's been a while since he played there.
and Barzagli next to Bonucci? naaah

So why did they wait so long to act on this and why didn't they find another LB in the process?

Another fully justified move by or GM

He must trust De Ceglie and have another backup in the squad whether it be Grosso, Vidal or even Pepe..Not saying I agree with that but yeah.

I wonder what would people defending Marotta say if it was Secco who did that move.
Yes, because people go out of their way to defend Marotta, a meaningless person to every single one of us on the forum. It's the method we are talking about, so if people are seeing reason in this method then there is no reason why they wouldn't do the same for Secco, an equally meaningless person.

Yes, because people are always 100% logical and their views on certain people never influence their view on what those people did.

Yes, of course. Marotta has a following and people like him, because he has been fabulously successful so far and his strong Juventus past is well known.

Back to reality, you judge people on their methods. I thought some of Secco's methods were well meaning and positive, although he was ultimately clueless. Does that make a person a Secco defender? I've seen many of these potential 'Secco defenders' in this forum during Marotta's spell, talking up the big money moves we made. But of course they are not Secco defenders, they are just giving their opinion on his methods, just as there are no Marotta defenders on this forum. They are either seeing a different side to the method or they are overly optimistic.

I prefer to judge events in isolation, rather than complain about every single detail because I didn't like several events in the past.

As for the Ziegler situation I don't have any problem with him leaving if Conte feels he cannot use him. From a personal perspective I wasn't enamoured with his signing anyway, I don't feel he is particularly better than De Ceglie. My concern is the fitness of De Ceglie and where that leaves us if he is missing. So I agree with those who wonder why we didn't sign a replacement if he was going. If this is Conte's choice then he will live and die by his decisions, like every coach. The same goes for Marotta.
