The fact that refs are more willing to call a foul for rather than against a big team or a football star is quite normal and witnessed in all sports all over the globe. Not saying it's fair, but it's the way it is. Just look around for things in real life.

In Italy it's noticed more because, as swag already mentioned, it's spotted out more with all the shows and moviolas that really look like a football surgent was operating on the game ... everything sliced to tiny details. Sure, it's easy to be smart and see the wrongs/rights when you have seen slow motions, but we all know things don't work like that when you are on the pitch and you have to make a decision in a few seconds. Not to mention that sometimes the refs can't be as close to the 'action' as a camera.

Then there's the ref's way of letting the game being played aka some like it more rough some call every small foul ... really there's no rules, beside the obvious ones. All this gives something to the game we so like. One time we hate this thing one time we love it.

It happens that sometimes weird calls are made (dive/no dive, off-sides etc.) and for that to avoid my solution would be to add two more linesmen as one can hardly see what's going on on the other side of the pitch. Just no instant replys please, our lifes are becoming more and more robotish enough without messing it with the beautiful game.

Basically only when the players are already resting or doing nothing, waiting for something, eg. in an event of a penalty, you'd notice tat the pk taker takes about a minute to set up and get ready..... If the video ref is used there, there would be no effect to the flow of the game
So you want them to let him start taking the penalty, and then decide? Imagine that! He's about to step up and kick the ball, and he ref gets word from the video ref, then tells the PK taker "oh bugger it mate, it wasn't a penalty". Sure that's not how they'd do it :howler:

Exactly. Notice how when you watch slow motion replays of an event, you think it looks like a penalty from one angle, but looks live a dive from another angle? Not only that, you usually have to watch the video about 30 times, and even then you can't make a definite decision.

Nah, I mean when something happens inside the box and the ref is unsure about it, then go to the video ref! If he is sure that it was a foul, then award the pk. If he is sure that there was no contact, let them play on.
If the verdict from the video ref is that there is no contact or foul, a freekick is awarded to the defending team!
And the video ref is to be used when the play stops. As soon as the ref blows his whistle and goes to the video ref. Thats when everyone rests and waits for the verdict...
