Actually I've found out mplayer doesn't really work as well with Windows. It's the same app but the window manager is so crap that it makes it harder to use. It also seems codec handling is nicer in linux for some reason.

What really baffles me though is how most of the movie players I've tried in Windows don't have any keyboard shortcuts. And that is bar none the quickest and easiest way to steer a movie instead of using the mouse. Not even space to pause the movie? Appaling.

    Hi guys,
I'm using mplayer for a while and I'm almost content with that. The only problem is when I try to player MP4 files. In this case mplayer throws an exception reporting a bug in audio codec. Anyone experienced that?

Long time, what have you been doing with yourself? :)

I like to control mplayer from the keyboard, so I don't use the gui mplayer :)

Since two weeks ago, I've used VLC and quiet fulfilled. But when it comes to command based operations, I do believe mplayer is something else.
