I don't think this is a huge problem (Maybe i'm saying this because I'm quite guilty of making non-football related threads). I don't think this is necessarily a bad thing that there are different types of people out here, because it's a reflection of the world. I don't think it'd be any fun if we were all the same, didn't get to know these people that we talk to so much and were all dead serious. I think that one of the great things about the hangout and other off-topic threads is that you can talk about whatever you want with a bunch of people who have a common interest: Juve. If anything, it's quite entertaining to have a bunch of people who want to talk about the players' hairstyles.

It only becomes a problem when the two mix, and a tactical analysis thread turns into something completely stupid. It's not a huge problem, however, when the topic is something like

"I think Inzaghi should play up front for the Azzuri"
"I don't think he should, because his new haircut sux!"

and then things get back on topic... as long as the threads don't fall too much by the wayside. The members of this forum can choose to participate in whichever thread they wish, so I don't think it's valid to complain about other parts of the thread...the simple solution is... not to go there! I personally know that it's wiser to avoid places like BuffonOnline, because I know the kinds of discussions that go on there...

Keep in mind that Martin's expressly stated the purposes of each thread, the player thread for example:

Player talk
The perfect place to discuss Davids' shades, Nedved's hair and we might even get into their moves on the pitch.
Maybe our president is a genius, and he saw all this coming!

The bottom line is, diversity is a great thing, getting to know your fellow Juve fans is a decent bonus to being able to talk about the club, and it's good to know how many people around the world support the club. Everyone should just have fun, no matter which aspect of football they're talking about.

Whoa, Gray, this was for sure a huge post, and I've made lots of patience to read it entirely :) Thank you. Well, I agree with you, it's a perfectly right opinion. Threads can be a little shacken by the so-called outsiders, but in some reasonable reasons (LOL - what a combo). I think that the tactical and technical discussions are still on and that they are going perfectly. So I'm satisfied. I can see Ian's unhappiness though, because it was shared by Tom and others these latest months. And there is another fact none of us can change : the absence of his great fellas. Well, at least I can't bring them back. It's not like I'm a magician or something. So Ian, you'll have to get along with the present mates. I'm sure they're great technicians too and that they have got a great love and respect for the teams and players you are talking about :). I hope I didn't offend no one with the content of this post.

Well i totally agree with the first post. A lot of threads around here are getting ridiculous. The hangout forum is slipping the most though. The love on the net thread, the online dating threads.... I mean this is a football forum right, a place for people to exchange ideas and discuss football matters above all else. Sure, nothing wrong with off topic threads, the off topic forum is great but the hangout is being misused by certain members IMO.

I think Rick is right. Obviously I wasnt here before this kind of behaviour started, as I've only been here for 3 months, and I too like to talk about non-football related subjets and hang out in the hangout, but I think football related forums (Team talk, Matches, Player talk, Transfer Talk) should talk about those things exactly, and for everything else there is the Off Topic forum and the hangout. It bothers me too when you want to start a discussioan and you want to here peoples arguments about something it goes off topic. For example, I made a thread about Lilian Thuram and why the UEFA award passed him by (http://www.juventuz.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=3618), and I wanted to hear peoples opinions, points arguments, and I have gotten few responses, while the Cristian Zenoni thread has 700 responses like "AND ZENO IS SEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEXY" and stuff like that. When you want to have a serious conversation with football knowers, Stua, Jun-hide, Rick and others are nowhere to be found :(.

I understand both of you guys, Tom and Zlatan. You are right. I do love The Hangout, because it's friendly and fun, it's the real place where you are able to meet the others in the truly sense of this word. But of course, messing the hangout problems with the football ones annoys me as well. TH is a thing, and football another.

I don't want TH to die, as I don't want the football discussions to be messed. So what's the solution after all ?

Maybe an announcement thread in the hangout forum setting out guidelines to posters would help. The hangout should be a friendly fun place, sure but thats not what it is right now.

It might be a good idea... maybe those who are most vocal about the topic should write them... but I think it's a sensitive topic, because you're effectively asking most of the people here not to talk about players' hair/looks for example...that (sorry to be sexist) eliminates most of the female population on these forums. Maybe the rules should be limited to not taking threads off-topic. I think leniency should be practised with these guidelines though, especially early on, because it's no good if the forum members feel inhibited and unable to express themselves due to these proposed rules.

I know that you're right and I can't do other think than agree with you. And not going off-topic it's been a long-time rule, so what's the difference after all ? I'm still more into the idea of creating a special Gossip or something forum just for them :)

The 'useless threads' board?

I guess that would contain the whole hangout thread right now...

I think there'd be lots of confusion and thread-moving, because people disagree on what is a hangout topic and what's a useless topic

Why do they merit their own forum when all they do is gossip. There are britney spears boards out there for that very purpose

I guess they just like to gossip with those who they've come to know over time i.e. the people on this forum, and it's always nice to know that the ppl u're talking to are Juve supporters

I agree with a lot of what's being said.

I too love the hangout when used right, but that's just not the way it is now. Just as we need quality football threads, the threads in the hangout needs to be of quality also. Just because it's the hangout doesn't mean that anything can be posted there.

Also, the fan threads are over the top, as said. Don't know how to solve that tough.

I also share Tom's opinion on the creation of a gossip forum.

You are right again, Tom. But what can I do ? I'm a girl myself, and Nina or Fabi are too, and maybe we look at players as men too, at least I do so, sometimes. But I learned that I can't do this on these forums and I stopped (I hope). So I'm coming here to see the latest news in football, to read more experienced people's opinions, and to hang out, to discuss about music, movies or just spare my time with you all. But gossip isn't exactly my type, so ...

Why don't you create something like a Girls only area or something ? I'm so confused :scared:

I agree, we should create a special area for them if we dont want them all over other threads. If we cant stop it, at least we could try to control it.

You mean for girls? Hmmm in today's society I don't think that'd be too politically correct. To your credit Iulia, and some other girls on this forum, I don't think you're particularly girly in your conversation, and you actually know some football :thumb:
