Well, some people find it highly annoying that one can't discuss about the Ramadan. For example: some people would find it annoying that a muslim says a professional football player plays better when fasting, when scientific evidence says the opposite. Other people find it annoying that they are forced to have a deep form of respect for everything that is Islam. Take me for example. I suddenly can't laugh with those cartoons, no I have to be an active pluralist and accept the great teachings of Islam. While I know it's bollocks. Islam isn't any better of a religion than mormonism, yet the last can be ridiculed..
Odd.
do you know what people do in Ramadhan? do you know what we are supposed to and not supposed to do in Ramadhan? you have any idea whats so offensive about that cartoon of yours? you could have asked us on this thread... but you won't... coz you hate religion and like to jump against it at any possible oppurtunity... you have no respect for other peoples sentiments and you feel you have been given all power to ridicule others so that you can have a cheap laugh... grow up kid... you need to learn things before you can give an opinion... and yours is not something we asked anyway...

I have yet to see anybody here besides you, Bes or the American guys ridicule Islam or any other religion, in a fun way or otherwise...Sure, the values of Islam or any other religion may not work for you, but we are all taught since when we were kids to respect other people's beliefs...that's not Muslim values or Christian morals, it is basic human decency
That's not the point. The point is that we may do so, whether you find it funny or not. It's not the same as saying "all muslims are retards". It's a funny cartoon which is sorely needed to put things in perspective. If you can't ridicule certain things in a society you're moving towards a dictatorship. The thing about respecting one another's beliefs is bullshit. I'm sorry but it is.

Let me give you an example: let's say I believe all muslims are retards.

Now you're a muslim. So how are you going to respect that belief of mine? You won't, you simply can't. That's what's fundamentally wrong with both active and passive pluralism. It just won't hold rationally. You cannot respect everyone's beliefs, that would mean you would respect the decision to murder, rape and steal. It is humanly impossible to do so, because respecting everyone's beliefs means you can't have a law. Because the law does impose certain beliefs on people. The law states it is wrong to murder. Now if the law had to respect everyone's beliefs, it would not be able to condemn a murderer. The theory is bollocks and I don't know which retard invented it in the first place.

More worryingly it's actually a dogma that chooses to accept certain beliefs. Christianity for example is accepted. So are most religions in fact. My beliefs on the other hand are not. This is odd.

Very much not the point, my friend. It's not a cheap laugh. It's a very important one. It's the core of western society.

And no this wasn't on topic, but Ze thought he could go ahead and laugh because the biggest war in the history of man was in no way connected to religion.. well, think again, Ze. In fact, it's pretty damn hard to find a war that is completely unrelated. The first one I can think of is WWI.
.
Alright, let me make clear what I meant before you go on putting words in my mouth.

What I meant was that unlike some of the major wars in the past that were due religion; such as the Crusades, the Thirty Year War, or Reconquista, etc.

In many ways these wars were the standard 'Religion A vs Religion B' in which the culprits were both attacking each other in the name of God.

However, I said that WWI and WWII were not, and this is why:

The Nazis, not having a religious agenda, committed crimes and atrocious acts against a religious group. In many ways this was an act of 'NON-Religious power vs Religious people' in which the victims were people who's only 'crime' was being followers of the Jewish faith, while the offender was a racist group of people hell bent on rooting these people out and world domination. This was not the standard Religion A vs Religion B.

Look we can't change history as you know. I can't go back in history to prevent religion from ever existing so that you can continue your life in peace and harmony. Religion has obviously caused some serious damage in life, so much so that you're blaming WWII on religion. If those damn Jews weren't Jews that shit would never have happened. I understand your frustration :seven:

I'm not. I'm just saying religion did matter in WWII. And I agree. I'd say it was the act of NON-religious power vs religious people. I have said it was throughout the discussion, but swag and Enron insisted religion was no part of it. Furthermore I never said the Jewish people were guilty. I also never said the offender wasn't a racist group of people hell bent on world domination.

I'd even take things to another level. Many of those religious wars did not have religion as their primary objective. But religion has always been a factor and denying that is simply moronic, even if Enron and swag are generally good posters (In fact I find it pretty funny Rommel apparently did want to take the Holocaust to Africa :howler:).

What is a bit odd though is that the harm religion does can be measured, while the good can't. Which is inconvenient.

Classy very classy..

What would be better is if you warned every person who continues to feel it is necessary for him/her to take this off the topic of Ramadan and celebrating it positively because last time I checked this was not a thread to discuss why Ramadan hurts footballers or why religion is damaging to society and is responsible for world wars, etc... I'm not Muslim but it has to be one of the most annoying things when all you see is people showing their ignorance about things they know nothing about which seems to be the norm on this forum for most people. It would be nice to have a little tolerance sometimes from the people on this forum. Let the Muslims enjoy their Ramadan, it is not like the Merry Christmas thread was bombarded with people talking about why Christmas is a dumb holiday while relating it to the downfall of society which can be argued as well.
Top post, completely agree

Read the explanation and give me 1 logical argument of why I am wrong.

I believe you are a moron.

Do you respect my belief?
there is a difference between things like the law, i'm talking about respect in a different form, having a bit of class, that's up to you what you believe, i mean, i think hinduism is a bit of a silly religeon perosnally, but i wouldn't go up to my hindu freinds and go ur religeon is stupid, your god has an elephant head, what the fuck up is with that? why do i not say that, it's called respect, not causing offence, being a better person, and you lack that i'm afraid, if people thoguht the way you did, the world would be in a worse position

I understand Rab, but since ur a mod, can u make sure that this thread is about what it is intended for? muslim juventino celebrating and talking about their ramadan, we don't want danish pictures mocking our prophet and we don't want to be riddiculed, that's not too much to ask is it? this thread is not for discussing wether or not islam is evil
