I think we should calm down, and not be so pessimistic. There are several issues that could have lead to this.

Benitez might have played us to increase transfer funds on pool.
Liverpool might be asking a shitload for compensation.
He might want something we're unwilling to give. Transfer control etc.

It could be out boards fault, but it might not, and we definetly should not get him at any cost - but we should of course be willing to spend on a great coach.

When it comes down to it, he wants pool more than us, and with that in mind this is for the best.

I just hope Marrotta comes and we get a coach who will play offensive football.
