A little information on Broughton, the "new" Liverpool chairman:
He was hired by H and G simply to sell the club. He has experience in the corporate realm doing the exact same thing (british air I believe). That's his mission and when the club is sold he will be replaced. So it isn't surprising he hasn't met with Rafa.
There is a scheduled meeting (in the next day or so) that has be set for two weeks where he will explain to Rafa where the club is at and the likely timetable for an outcome.
Not really. Word is Broughton's been busy with two or more prospective buyers, the Huang fellow and another Chinaman for sure. (notice the Carlsberg in Chinese on Sunday) The meeting has been known to have been set for this week for some time. But I think Juve's pressure has sped up the situation a bit.
His speech in the press lately is his notorious brow beating to rile up the fans when he's getting ready to press management for something he wants. In this case, it's probably some sort of ultimatum in regards to guaranteed transfer funds.
Carlsberg are pushing hard in the chinese market atm, so I am not surprised. I am getting a little bit nervous, if Liverpool give him what he wants. I really want him here, by the mere fact that I am very nervous about the alternatives...
I don't know if Carlsberg had a choice. It was a "goodwill show" to Liverpool's sister city of Shanghai. Which seems to me an attempt to show potential buyers their ability to pander to the Chinese demographic.
I didn't say Rafa would, but that seems to be what he's looking for. Been talking an awful lot this spring about the need to bring in 4-5 quality players.
Amid mounting concern that Fernando Torres will seek a move to a club with genuine prospects of challenging for domestic and European titles, Benítez is weighing up the offer to become Juventus coach.
