I would rather take a risk on someone like Eriksen in a way. Someone that we can deploy as a CAM. I would he happy with Radja though.

He is overkill definitely. There is no room for both Marchio -Pogba in first 11 and both are miles ahead in quality of him.He is a little better than Padoin but not much.If we had to spend wisely that 11 mil I would prefer Kolarov or Nani.

i would love to have him here. why is it overkill? just look at the current situation. marchisio injured and we are already one injury/suspension away from padoin starting in the cl against real madrid ( ;) ). furthermore he would be the perfect replacement for vidal. pogba does very well in the marchisio role and is a solid pirlo sub but he isn´t exactly a workhorse who never stops running :p.
i don´t think we are getting him now though. what are the rumors even about? now or for next season?

oh and btw: if we buy kolarov for 11mio please shoot me.

Bro wat, Nainggolan is significantly better than Padoin.

The point is he would play in more than 1/3rd of all games.

Let me just ask you a question, say one of Pogba/Vidal/Pirlo got injured and we had to face Real Madrid with Padoin, you would be 100% ok with that and not wished we spent some money + youth players on Nainggolan?

But you can take this line of reasoning as far as you want.

What if Vidal is suspended, Pirlo injured & Pogba has the flu when we play Madrid. Would you be fine with Padoin then? Because if you're not, we better sign someone besides Nainggolan as well.
As for Padoin, if Conte doesn't trust him at all when necessary, then he shouldn't be here to begin with.

I really don't get the obsession people have with needing massive squads.

So you think that Pogba, Vidal, Pirlo (haven't even included Marchisio at this stage, as only three fit in midfielder, or Asamoah) would cut down to say, 30 league games each, so Nainggolan can play 24? It's possible but improbable.

If you add all the midfielders into the mix you are probably looking at 25-28 games each, for Serie A.

Of course he won't play many games.

How often will 2(!) out of Marchisio, Pogba, Vidal & Pirlo be unavailable? If last season is anything to go by, once every 10-15 games? If that.

That's what I'm thinking, it'll be a third of games that become available, which is why the whole Marchisio/Pogba thing is an acceptable situation as it stands.

There's a difference between having 1 or 2 players out and having the backups to cover them and exaggerating and saying every player will be out.

I didn't say we should have a massive squad, we should just get more quality. If he can be available for a decent price, there's no good reason why we shouldn't sign Nainggolan and maybe sell Padoin.

Well Marchisio is somewhat injury prone and Pirlo is 34, maybe Conte will want to rest him a little bit more for the more important matches. Don't forget he could be important to use in matches before and/or after CL games (if they are a couple of days apart) so the squad doesn't get so tired. If 20 matches is 1/3 of all games then so be it, I guess I underestimated 1/3. Better to have Nainggolan for 20 games instead of Padoin.
