You have missed the point of what was being said to you. The suggestion was that if you didnt have Muslim parents, you wouldn't be a muslim, because you wouldnt be raised in that tradition and have been told it was true since birth. I was born into a christian family, i went to a christian school but i am no longer a religious in the slightest, im fairly sure if i were born into a family that were of the jewish faith i would have been a jew. Its not about what happened after you're sister became a non believer, the issue was that she was a believer in the first place because of her upbringing. It isnt in our nature to be religious, thats why if we were born without any religious influence we wouldnt follow a religion from birth.
