I'm still scrapping about with the demo, through balls are crazily hard to deal with.

Anybody played the full 360 version? On the demo there is a 'stop and turn' glitch when you run at speed with the ball in certain situations. It's happened to me twice when I've ran through on goal. It's infuriating on just the demo, but I heard that it's even on the full game?! If so, it's a complete game breaker. Konami need to patch this instantly, because I will be returning my copy if I play it and that shit is still in there.

Oh, and this turn glitch also effects you when you are chasing players at speed, it keeps trying to turn so loses your momentum and you can not keep up with even 75 speed players.

This is a massive problem on its own, never mind the fact that crossing is the easiest way to score.

Wahdan, what style do you use for defending? As you can't really muscle people off the ball easily now, it's very difficult to take the ball off their toes. Do you try to bring a second defender in to help. I find jockeying the attacker is useless in a match situation as they always attack with 2 or 3.

I let the second defender (AI) pressure the opposition and the player I control is covering the second defender. When he goes past the AI, he finds me tackling or pressuring and winning the ball. I always do that with fast players like Messi and Cristiano.

Even in counter-attacks I use that system. I always keep the player in my control lurking at the back and trying to anticipate the pass while the second defender is pressuring the dribbler. I can’t really explain it further with words, I hope you understood.

Yeah I know what you mean, it seems the best way because dribbling is so easy for both you and your opponent (even CPU) that they can turn you if you get too close and isolated, and once you are turned it's virtually impossible to prevent the attacker having a free shot.

Probably your analogue stick sucks?
Nope, it's a brand new controller (just bought a new Xbox) and it's happening to a lot of people. It's to do with the analogue stick on the Xbox 360, but it's an in-game problem because the dribbling is sensitive and unless you use the D-Pad and have a perfectly straight running line then the dribbler will try to turn sharply. It's a game breaking error, Konami really need to fix it.

Ok, I just suggested because I had same problem long time ago on PES. I bought some pretty expensive Logitech controller which had too sensitive analogue stick(shity one :D) and instead of running in straight line players would run in diagonals. It was very very very frustrating.

Yeah I know what you mean, I had it on an old controller from playing COD, the stick would point upwards because you constantly have to hold it to run :D

All my brothers (3) and 4 friends play it with d-pad too hehe. We tease one friend and one cousin who play with analogue, everytime they miss, say its because analogue isnt as precise as the classic d-pad, ignoring factors like they suck balls :D

Fred - some tips on the defending:

It is hard, nothing like we have seen from PES, but I'm already getting more used to it and I hated it at first.

Close them down:- When the opponent has the ball make sure you are closing them down at all times, hold the run button (shoulder) and pass button (A on Xbox) together to do this. This will make them rush more and possibly let you take the ball away from them. This is also one of the few ways to give players a nudge when they are through on goal. It doesn't always work as through balls are very dangerous to defend on PES 2012, so you might have to resort to a risky sliding tackle or make the keeper run out.

Use other defenders:- If you hold the shoot button (X on Xbox) as well as the run button and pass button it will bring another defender to your aid, this risks leaving another player open of course, but can often work to steal the ball.

One on one:- If you find yourself isolated hold the right trigger and the pass button, this will jockey the man. Then when you find an opportunity to take the ball, release the pass button and press it again with the direction that you wish to make the interception. FIFA has something similar, although defenders dangle their legs a bit too much and it can cause many trip fouls.

The pressing defense is by far the best tactic. You could also field a deeper defensive line if you want to counter, but of course this puts you at pressure from long shots, and on Professional level and above I've had a few players smash shots past me.

When we played Pro Ev in uni everyone used the d-pad as well. Using the stick was unheard of.

Thanks mate, thats helpful. Thats how i always used to defend on the former PES games, by holding the "run" button and the "pass" button, it doesn't seem to work as well in 2012 though.
