guys i've played pro evo and fifa 09 to the death, and i'm being honest, fifa is much superior (die hard pro evo guy here, since iss on ps1 to pro evo 6 on ps2). really, pro evo is so dated, the players still run in 8 directions, the gameplay is slow and uninspiring, the animation and graphics are terrible, the series has not moved on, fifa has made leaps and bounds, the gameplay is slick and smooth, ball control feels good, passing is accurate, in comparison to pro evo's pinball gameplay with inaccurate passing. I was playing as barca and even when i sprint with messi or eto'o slow players would catch up to me like it's nothing, but on fifa, u give the ball to messi, and you are off, you can feel the difference, hate to say it, but EA have really out done Konami this time, and this is not even going in to the fact that fifa has countless more liscences and pro evo doesn't even have bayern munich in it!!!! i'm really glad i kept my pro evo reciept

prices have dropped in Dubai after the release.

I know for a fact the XBOX version is for 285 here. Play station is a bit cheaper as well.

If you are talking about the PS2, you may be right, but the pc version of the PES is def not graphically inferior to FIFA, there was an immense difference two years ago, but it is no more!
PES 2009 gives a real 3D depth of field which allows to calculate the precise location of the ball while mid-air, so you can sync your interception, just try and that on FIFA 2009...

I still find the controls just a bit more accurate this year, using the same Logitech gamepad i was using last year, on my rig FIFA 2009 has really important control issues and i and the very same impression you describe on PES, right on FIFA,
with the added issue, that the FIFA players, were occasionally freezing...
I was really optimistic for this year FIFA, but the controls issues really ruined the exp for me.
On the other hand PES 2009 seem to be much more responsive than PES 2008,
manual passes and the absolute control of the player without the use of the super cancel is a real bless and a step forward, i was waiting for several years.

As for the speed, its true, it can be a real issue, this was the major chance it happened in PES 2009 gameplay, you can no longer run and gun, using one player to out-sprint an entire team, constantly....
This was considered entirely unrealistic and only reflected the football played in the EPL!
Now you have to use tactics, more players, passes, dribbling, lobs, crosses and a fine firing solution+momentum to get your self a decent chance.
Still though, Henry, Messi and Ronaldo can outrun everyone, but not as long as they curry along the ball, on their feet, they get slower and even slower players can catch up and di-posses them.
The players is forced to use more players to think and act as a player
and the beautiful footballs with dribbling, flicks and small swift passes is finally rewarded.

It can be a frustrated exp at the beginning for the players who were used to use their team players like race-horses, using the same boring attacking pattern
and the superior numbers of their super players skills (esp speed acceleration and long shoot accuracy)
Now the difference is made by the player himself!
And when you will adapt to the new gameplay, you will grow to love it and appreciate it more than before!

I for one, am a tactical player and i always hate the EPL style of playing,
therefore i welcome the new chances and i ve learned to use them against the AI and other players.
Even the AI sprinters cant outrun your defenders now, they need to work another way, to get between your defense, we all play by the same rules, but the rulebook has finally changed!

History will prove if its broken or improved! I bet most of the run and gun players will be frustrated, initially at least, the change were made to renter their main, brainless tactic, useless, lets see if they can adapt...

good post cronios, i for one, prefer a tacicall agme, though i am not afraid to admit i do cheat a little!
see me and my mate prefer to unlock the classic teams and then call p legends to supplement the current national team. it does get aggrivating when he continually uses argentina, plays little football but simply skins everyone with maradonna's pace and scores 35 yard wonder goals a lot. i prefer to use Zico to unlock defenses with pele and ronaldo making runs in and behind the back line. again it is maybe not entirely in the spirit of the game to mix all these classic players with teh current generation, but is certainly makes for some wondeful games of football

i am talking about the ps3 version, and no you're worng, i compared both, fifa's graphics are superior, there is no doubt about it, the stadium atmosphere, animation, everything (although pro has better face accuracy in terms of player likeness). I for one love a tactical game, but pro evo is still the same, you cannot deny it, they havn't evolved the game, like i said, 8 directional dribbling, we are on ps3 now, i found that an insult to the money i paid for the ps3, the player reactions are very slow, i used to not mind before but i've really had enough of playin north london reds, champions league mode is a saving grace, but the stupid thing is in master league it's not even there!! all this bearing in mind i am a pro evo fan and have played it and iss before it for the last 10 years, i played both for a week now and it's pretty obvious fifa is superior, i wanted it to be pro, but i'm afraid that isn't the case......

I see, as matter of fact, i ve heard that Konami has betrayed the PS3 fans,
you may be right from your even own point of view.
I ve personally tried PES 2008 on PS3 and it was horrible, FIFA 2009 and even 2008 look so much better.
I assumed that since the graphics were improve on the PC and reached the FIFA standards, the same thing would happen to the other consoles.
PS 2 has reached its limits and cant be improved, but KONAMI has no excuse for the situation on the PS3 front, not anymore!
Both for the graphics and for the control, since the six axis gamepad is much better!

I for one, tend to love my Logitech pc gamepad and i find more precise than both the sony's and Microsoft's sticks.
The freedom and the precision i feel, when i dribble with this gamepad cannot be simulated on the consoles!

Considering the recent history, chances are that you are right when bashing PES on the PS3.

I got carried away about the speed issue though, most of friends were addicted to this type of play and they found this to be the most important change the PES has seen this year.
They are derailed, to say the least, extremely frustrated that their 2-3 button tactics are not effective anymore!
And they have now started to use more teams, besides Man Un, Inter and Barca...

As for as i am concerned, the PES exp on both multi-player and single is drastically changed to my liking, a change i was waiting for years!
The graphics are pleasant enough at the max resolution my 17'' display can get
and i currently i only hope for more and better patches and option files!
For the pc there are already quick patches who already fixed the English teams names and emblems.
Option files are made to improve the latest transfers, like Almiron and Manningher.
And i have noticed that they rapidly appear for the PS3 too.

I am used to all this patch tuning and no matter how much actualized the FIFA is,
it is only good for the first 3 months before the winter transfers!
Then you have to patch it too!!
So the original names and jerseys for me is not an issue, when i can find them in the links i ve posted(dedicated sites)

see i found playing it on the xbox that pro-evo was far better than fifa in almost every aspect, i am not alone in this as both my best mate and my brother in law al found teh same.i said earlier in this thread that is till found fifa to be too easy and that pro-evo was again the better game. i seriously doubt that the x-box and ps3 version would be dissimilar and i guess it is amatter of tatse.
though it is worrying to see a pro-evo die hard enthuse so positively over fifa

i don't know what it is rob, but with this pro evo something is missing, the ball just feels to heavy, don't get me wrong, it's not like a hate pro or think its a bad game, its just this time fifa feels more natural to me, i've played both for a week now, and so far i prefer fifa, i'm still not sure, something inside me is saying maybe i should hold on to both for a little bit longer before i return one of them, i think to be honest it really does come down to a preferance of taste, and i really do love the champions league mode, damn good, but then fifa seems to have a lot more options, does anyone know if it's possible to download a patch for pro evo on the ps3 that will have all the kits done?

Sony was a tad late to to support and encourages game developers for the PS3.
Microsoft came first and financed a lot of them.
The gave them a lot of software support development tools.
A lot of know how and indirect financial support, so they can be sure that the first next gen games would be optimized for their console.

Sony came second and they were arrogant, because they were dominating the interest of gamers and game devs.
So the game devs gradually started to declare their discomfort.
Saying that the development of the next gen titles is pretty pricey and eats away too much time. A fact the lives to little margin for profits!
Konami was one of them and they were unable to make PES 2007 for the PS3

Last year though, the Sony started a counter attacked, they were forced to do that, because most of the game devs would turn their back on them.
So they financed new dev tools, that would make the life easier for the devs, reducing their cost and time needed to develop and port games for the PS3.
PES 2008 was the first next gen footy Konami produced for the PS3.
And it rather felt rushed and incomplete. Def not optimized.
FIFA's obsess of going multi-console and their infinite resources grant them the first step.
This was the main reason FIFA 2008 > PES 2008 on the PS3

FIFA made a step forward this year but, but PES was supposed to make a leap forward this year, upgrading, not only the graphics but the gameplay too.

I havent seen with my own eyes yet PES 2009 on the PS3, but if it is improved as much as it is improved on the PC, then we should really not make an issue about it.
But there is a possibility, that the PS3 version,
is still half a step behind, than the other consoles...as long as more voices like Rehan rise, the more i tend to believe it!

I have the opposite problem actually. The super players in pro evo have always been a problem-

I say the new game is great, but its no great leap.
