The Primavera will face Vicenza in the last-sixteen of the Viareggio Cup. Marco Baroni’s side, who finished top of Group 4 after winning all three of their fixtures, are set to take on the Biancorossi in the next round of the prestigious youth tournament.
Vicenza ended Group 8 level with Fiorentina on seven points, with the Viola topping the group on goal difference. Two victories over Cesena and Norwegian outfit Stabeak, coupled with today’s 1-1 draw, proved enough for both teams to make it through into the knockout stages.
The Biancorossi, however, have struggled so far in this year’s championship campaign, currently propping up Group B on 12 points after winning three, drawing three and losing ten of their matches.
Marco Baroni will be without three important players for Tuesday’s game. Giuseppe Ruggiero and Gianluca Carfora have already returned to Turin after picking up injuries, while Andrea Schiavone’s red card against Città di Marino will see the midfielder serve a one-match ban.
The last-sixteen encounter is to be played on Tuesday in Sarzana, with kick-off scheduled for 3pm.
