The Primavera secured their spot in Saturday’s semi-finals courtesy of a 3-1 victory over Club Guaranì. The young Bianconeri endured a tough start to the encounter, falling a goal behind after thirteen minutes, but responded in the best possible way through strikes from Prince Gouano, Elio De Silvestro and Oasim Bouy. Coach Marco Baroni joined the goalscorers in expressing his delight at the final whistle.
Baroni: “Today I’m doubly satisfied. I’m happy for the victory and for how the lads read the game. They knew how to react when they went behind and they’ve won a difficult game, playing some good football in the process. Now we’ll come up against Parma. We put in one of our best performances of the championship against them, but we need to forget this and just think about Saturday’s fixture.”
Gouano: “I’m happy about choosing the right game in which to score my first goal. I spotted Rubin’s dummy and managed to weigh in with the decisive touch.”
De Silvestro: “I’ve only been able to score with an open goal in this tournament... I’m happy that it enabled us to win a difficult game. Now we’ll think about winning the semi-final because we want to bring this Viareggio trophy home.”
Bouy: “It was a great goal. This stadium is good for me; I made my debut here and scored my first goal. It’s a shame that we’re not playing the semi-final here.”
