The Primavera got their season off to a strong start by cruising to a comfortable 3-0 victory over neighbours Pro Vercelli. Beltrame added to Padovan’s early double to secure all three points by the break.
Chilean utility man Mauricio Isla, who completed a summer switch from Udinese in July, was handed a run-out as he steps up his recovery from a knee injury sustained last season. He was joined in the starting line-up by new arrivals Rugani and Kabashi.
The new faces settled in to perfection and combined to set Padovan racing through after just eight minutes. The striker held his nerve to dispatch a clean strike beyond the onrushing Vannucchi.
Goal number two came fourteen minutes later. Good work by Isla and Mattiello presented Padovan with a sight of goal, and the frontman made no mistake from close range.
A three-goal cushion was established shortly before half-time. Emmanuello was brought down in the penalty area and Beltrame stepped up to convert from the spot.
With the result put beyond doubt, Baroni took the opportunity to test out certain players in different positions. Emmanuello moved back into central defence, while Magnusson slotted comfortably into a central midfield role.
The young Bianconeri will next be in action on Wednesday night in Alessandria, when they take on Fenerbahce in the NextGen series.
