The Primavera have reached the Coppa Italia final after Leonardo Spinazzola’s goal edged out Fiorentina in a tense encounter at Chisola. This afternoon’s result sees Marco Baroni’s side set up another final showdown with Roma, four days after overcoming the Giallorossi to lift the club’s eighth Viareggio Cup.

Just two changes were made from Monday’s Coppa Carnevale triumph. Schiavone replaced the suspended Chibsah and Liviero reclaimed his spot at left-back after shaking off the flu. The 4-2-3-1 system saw Branescu start in goal, Untersee, Gouano, Rubin and Liviero line up across the back four, Schiavone and Gabriel anchor the midfield, with Spinazzola, Beltrame and De Silvestro supporting lone striker Padovan.

The Bianconeri, urged on by their home support at Chisola, started on the front foot and almost went in front after fifteen minutes. Beltrame pulled the trigger but saw his shot tipped onto the bar by Svedilausicas. Ten minutes later, Spinazzola’s shot was pushed wide and the resulting corner saw Rubin’s header rebound back off the upright. *

This sparked the visitors into life and Untersee was required to make a last-ditch goal line clearance to prevent the Viola from going in front. But the star of the Viareggio Cup soon picked up where he left off. De Silvestro broke on the counter and laid the ball to Spinazzola, who rifled the ball home with a right-footed finish on thirty-four minutes.

Baroni was forced into making a change shortly after the restart as Belfasti replaced the injured Untersee. The coach followed this up by introducing Bouy in place of Padovan, with Beltrame occupying the central striking berth. *

As Fiorentina pushed forward in search of an equaliser, the Bianconeri were left with gaps to exploit on the counter. Beltrame went close to clinching victory on a couple of occasions, but failed to find a way past Svedilausicas.

The closing stages saw Spinazzola make way for Magnusson as Baroni aimed to protect Juve’s slender advantage. And despite coming under heavy pressure in the final few minutes, the Bianconeri stood firm to secure their second final appearance of the season.
