crystal-palace-fans-unveil-banner-protesting-saudi-ownership-of-newcastle.jpg

Crystal Palace fans unfurled this against Saudi Oil Club. Police investigated, decided that no offence was committed.

I love the "we've got our club back" remark, which they are so fond of. Like they were ever this club.
lol I assure you if PIF took over Crystal Palace instead, you'd see these fans wearing traditional Saudi clothes and singing the Saudi national anthem in their own stadium.

Hypocrisy as usual.

There's no guarantee of that, not everyone is soulless. You'd imagine those who made the banner would hardly be celebrating, but it's true that a lot of fans would cheer in the same position. They'd have Satan himself as owner if it meant challenging for trophies in some warped change of fortunes. But not all. It's easy to forget, but things change for fans and the relationship with their club once the money and football tourists roll in. I used to work with an old school Londoner Chelsea fan who went to every home game, got every programme. He had the money to keep going but when Abramovich came in the prices went up and the atmosphere down to the extent he just fell out of love with it. Now he goes maybe a handful of times per season to keep his eye in, I suppose.

You can see that the protest is against the laughable "owners test" and the continual whingeing from Newcastle fans about wanting "their club back". Really they just wanted Ashley out, because he was using it as a business. The club that yo-yo'd between the first and second tier for most of its history, and hasn't won a trophy for 50 years? A bit like Man City really, a pretend big club in the right place at the right time. They will insist that this does not mean an endless pot of money and buying trophies like City or PSG, just that "they wanted to compete". Well, the vast majority of clubs don't compete, fans sit and watch their clubs not get close to winning for season after season, and having the best fans evaa was never going to change that. The only way they could compete is either a billionaire takeover or a manager comes in and creates a dynasty from somewhere. But Newcastle fans are special and deserve special things, because life works like that.

This "owners test" has not been done for Man City, Chelsea and other take overs in the Premier League over the past few years. For me, the frustration of Newcastle fans was understandable.

I get where you're coming from regarding ticket prices but this has more into it for Geordies than just making Newcastle United the best football club in the world. PIF will most likely invest heavily in developing infrastructure in the city and in turn will create jobs for 1000s of locals.

Newcastle upon Tyne is set to become a known city for people living outside of UK after years of negligence.

Your statement lacks evidence. I have never shared my stance on slave labour and raping Children.

Here's whats going to happen. Conte will replace Ole and Pogba will renew. Even Romano said Pogba could stay at MU only if Ole leaves. Then Juve fans will have to deal with it.

I hope it's all true. Wasting your salary budget on Pogba isn't smart. I'd take someone like Malinovskyi over Pogba.

It's not like we have any better shot at it right now, is it? If he's not renewing with MU, he's going to RM/PSG. So either way we aren't getting him.

I'd say that for the club it's time to move on. We started a new project with a lot of young players and we need to build on top of that. Sure, there will be an odd signing like Romagnoli but in general we need to look into the future. If we keep on stacking players with similar (and young) age, by the time they're "grown up" we hopefully will have a good enough team to compete for CL. This has worked for a few top clubs already and while it's not the easiest approach, it seems like the most sustainable and most fruitful one.

Pogba ain't fitting into that.
