Aaron Lennon: Everton winger detained under Mental Health Act

Everton winger Aaron Lennon was detained under the Mental Health Act by police over concerns for his welfare.

The 30-year-old was taken to hospital "for assessment" after police were called to Salford on Sunday.

Lennon is now "receiving care and treatment for a stress-related illness", his club has said.

The England international, who joined Everton from Tottenham in 2015, has not played for the first team since February.

Greater Manchester Police said: "Police were called at around 4.35pm to reports of a concern for the welfare of a man on Eccles Old Road.

"Officers attended and a 30-year-old man was detained under section 136 of the Mental Health Act and was taken to hospital for assessment."

Sounds uminous, what can lead to calling police on someone depressed? Fearing self harm? hope he gets the help he needs.

So Monaco got away with fielding their B team against PSG, meanwhile in the championship Huddersfield Town are in trouble for doing the exact same thing.

Coupe de France rules state clubs have to have "at least seven players who took part (in the starting lineup or came off the bench as substitutes) in one of the previous two official matches played by their first team," which in Monaco's case is their Champions League quarterfinal second leg with Borussia Dortmund or their Ligue 1 win at Lyon last weekend.

Monaco went by the rules.

It's particularly notable though because Huddersfield were playing Birmingham who were in dire form and relegation trouble. Not only that but Birmingham played a lot of the game with 10 men and still managed to beat play-off Huddersfield 2-0. Blackburn fans were obviously very pissed, even though they beat Blues' rivals Villa (shock).

Spurs were a mid-table club until very recently. Unlike Roma atleast, who seem to roam around the top regularly and accomplish nothing. So its pretty natural for them to run out of steam when it matters most.

Having said that, that are probably the least-detesable title challenging club in England.
