Monaco might well beat us over 2 legs, but to say that they will challenge us over 38 is ludicrous.
Compared to all other Serie A sides they definitely would challenge us.

By the way, English fans, especially the fans of the four scummiest clubs (Liverpool, Man United, Tottenham, Chelsea) are the worst.

no, it can happen to anyone. with a full squad they would have been in the group stage
they were already 1-0 down before the red.

- - - Updated - - -

Spurs went out in the group and couldnt beat Gent with a full squad in the EL, and Leverkusen lost in round of 16 (forgot even to whom, thats how irrelevant they are) and are 3pts above relegation zone in Germany but yeah, they are better than Benfica.

judging teams by how far they go in cup competitions is a two edged sword. for example, Roma went out in Ro.16, but it was vs Lyon who are one of the strongest teams in the competition. Tottenham went out vs a belgian team, i dont think i have to say anything else really. thats why you cant say Celta is better than Roma because they are in the semifinal, and you cant also say Monaco is better thn Napoli for the saem reason
Like I said EL is irrelevant for sides that expect CL qualification from the league. Leverkusen went out to Atleti.

Judging sides on cup competitions isnt the best measuring cup ofc. However looking at the whole picture Monaco have done better on all major fronts and are better on paper.

Roma were up 1-0 in Porto when they got a red, and conceded a late PK after it. They conceded 1st in Rome, but they would have come back with a full squad.

EL irrelevant? Then why did they field their almost strongest team and still went out vs a Belgian side. Accept it, they arent so good at all.

On paper Monaco isnt that good. Napoli has a better starting XI and a deeper squad. On the pitch is where they showed their quality, and im not even talking about CL (gun ho shootout vs City and wins vs shaken up Borussia). They have done an excellent job to win consistently in the league and stay above PSG all season. Thats what i apreciate about them

You are biased. Monaco has a much better team than Napoli. Only thing Napoli has over them is a deeper squad and a better defense

I know it's kinda irrelevant, but please do the 1 on 1 comparison of their starting players. I'm curious.

"much better than Napoli" Monaco is so overrated here.

They concede as many as they score in the CL, barely made it past City and then won against a shocked Dortmund side that finishes behind Red Bull Leipzig and Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga.

Reina > Subasic
Hysaj < Sidibe
Albiol > Raggi
Koulibaly > Glik
Ghoulam < Mendy
Zielinski < Silva
Diawara < Fabinho
Hamsik > Bakayoko
Insigne < Lemar
Mertens < Mbappe
Callejon > Falcao

Some of these are debatable i,e lemar v insigne, so based it on the controversial whoscored ratings. :boh:

heres the real 1vs1

Reina - Subasic, no idea, both arent anything special
Albiol > Raggi
Koulibaly > Glik
Hysaj > Sidibe
Ghoulam < Mendy
Diawara < Fabinho
Allan > Bakayako
Hamsik > Silva
Callejon > Lemar
Insigne < Mbappe
Mertens > Falcao

dont even have to compare the bench where Napoli is better

Napoli is also overrated, they have done nothing to warrant being rated this high. Basically Italy's Arsenal.

--

Starting eleven (different formations so more difficult to choose what to compare in midfield)

Subasic = Reina

Touré/Sidibé < Hysaj
Glik < Koulibaly
Raggi < Albiol
Mendy > Ghoulam

Silva > Zielinski
Fabinho > Diawara
Bakayoko < Hamsik
Lemar >= Insigne

Mbappe > Mertens
Falcao > Callejon

Hysaj over Sidibe? No way jose

Allan - Bakayoko and others are too close to call. For example Callejon plays further and has 1 better goal/assist stats as a result but Lemar offers much more to the team, id take Lemar over him.

There are some similarities between the teams but Mbappe is truly one of a kind, players like silva and Lemar in my opinion possess different characteristics to the Hamsiks and Nipples dont have a player like Fabinho. Its not like Nipples is easy, especially away, although IMO facing Monaco will most likely be tougher at home than away.

Half Europe wants Monaco's players, no one cares about Napoli's.
Age play a part, their CL form and their reputation to produce WC talent every so often.

Hysaj is one of the best RBs in Europe, do you watch him play?
