The Sun suspended one of their columnists (Kelvin MacKenzie) for this short comment on Ross Barkley and the city of Liverpool:

In the offending article, Mackenzie wrote: ‘Perhaps unfairly, I have always judged Ross Barkley as one of our dimmest footballers.

‘There is something about the lack of reflection in his eyes which makes me certain not only are the lights not on, there is definitely nobody at home.

‘I get a similar feeling when seeing a gorilla at the zoo. The physique is magnificent but it’s the eyes that tell the story.

‘So it came as no surprise to me that the Everton star copped a nasty right-hander in a nightclub for allegedly eyeing up an attractive young lady who, as they say, was ‘spoken for’.

‘The reality is that at £60,000 a week and being both thick and single, he is an attractive catch in the Liverpool area, where the only men with similar pay packets are drug dealers and therefore not at nightclubs, as they are often guests of Her Majesty.’

‘However, 23-year-old Mr Barkley will have learned a painful lesson. He is too rich and too famous to be spending his time in local hangouts where most of the customers have only just broken through the £7.50-an-hour barrier.’
MacKenzie says he didn't realise that Barkley had a Nigerian grandfather. It's possible I suppose, it's not completely obvious to look at him. Barkley also does look gormless, which isn't a crime in itself.

He is one of these shock-columnists designed to rile people up with his old, white right-wing views. Backfired spectacularly this time.

Oh, and he also so happened to have been the editor of The Sun when they blamed Liverpool fans for the Hillsborough disaster. So not the most popular man in Liverpool, far from it.

Have to say that also the Liverpool mayor doesn't understand what racism is if he thinks the stereotype slurs against scousers are "racial stereotyping". No, Liverpudlians are not a race. And yes, there is a considerable narco element there, this goes back decades and is partly because it is a large port city.

Isn't it like how Neapolitans cry about "racism" from the North, even though they are not a race either.

That's a pretty disgusting article though. No surprise that it comes from that shitty publication.

Yeah there are some similarities between the two places and sets of supporters, there are huge regional biases in England as well (foreign fans have diluted a lot of it across the internet and social media, let's be honest), although Naples is obviously a different level of crime and all the other shit. In England it's the persecuted north and everything biased towards London. As someone from the Midlands I can safely say that the likes of Liverpool, City and United get their fair share of coverage all around. If you're going to demand respect and positive praise then you have to be really good and walk the walk, and domestically we can say neither Liverpool or Napoli have done it for some considerable years. In Napoli's case hardly every at all.

Didn't realize how close Tottenham is to first place. And they play Chelsea next. Fingers crossed!!!
Did you realize Chelsea have a game in hand?! give Roma 5 games and they`ll be ahead of us in the table but we would still have 5 games which means 15 points potential (and with us in Serie A its more probable...)

Chelsea already won the EPL.. Tottenham will come 2nd and the best player award will be decided between Delle Alli and Lukaku (Id give it to Delle Alli but I think Lukaku would win it)

This guy MacKenzie is a cunt of the highest order, he's always having a pop at someone or group of people and hiding behind the whole 'controversial columnist' angle. Hates scousers, hates minorities, hates Scots, loves Thatcher. And worst of all he changed what team he supported because his old team were crap.
