Davids claims referees target him

Tottenham's Edgar Davids says Premiership referees have made him a marked man after he received a seventh caution of the season on Saturday.

The 32-year-old midfielder was booked for a foul on Wigan's Henri Camara in only his 11th match of the season.

"I've been given so many cards it feels like Christmas," Davids was quoted as saying in the Daily Express.

"It seems referees target me. They give fouls against me very easily. Sometimes things are exaggerated."

If Davids receives three more yellow cards before April 9 he will serve a two-match ban.

The former Barcelona, Juventus and Inter Milan player scored his first goal for Spurs at the weekend, following up a weaving solo run with a powerful strike.

The experienced Dutchman has been credited with bringing balance to the Tottenham dressing-room and boss Martin Jol revealed Davids is a great influence.

"After every match Edgar either praises them or criticises them and then leaves the dressing-room and leaves them alone.

"He loves to play for this club and I think it is showing.

"He is 32, but he has great stamina. When you think he is tiring, he always comes up with that sort of thing, but I knew that anyway."

Davids has certainly been dealt lemons this season. but what did our mothers tell us to do when life gives us lemons. Mom said to make lemonade. Davids should do some research and find out the record for yellows in a season then try for it. That would be wicked cool.

What do you mean? He should have accepted the pay cut and stayed in Juve, not dance around different clubs in three different countries
Since his time here he was arguably the most consistent player at Juve. Always top-drawer performances, never tired, never exhausted, barely ever complained, always professional.

With all that I think he fully justified his 3.8m/annum pay. We also know how Moggi and co are backstabbing serpents but we will never know the truth until Davids writes a book.

He should have gone to the EPL where someone will pay a lot for him and he can collect yellow cards till the cows come home. Hey didnt he do that?;)

Well, he got paid a lot of money at Inter (I dont know how much exactly) but he warmed the bench. So its either getting paid a normal amount (its not like 2 million euros is nothing) and playing every week and in the CL, or being paid a million more and not playing consistently
