Davids claims referees target him
Tottenham's Edgar Davids says Premiership referees have made him a marked man after he received a seventh caution of the season on Saturday.
The 32-year-old midfielder was booked for a foul on Wigan's Henri Camara in only his 11th match of the season.
"I've been given so many cards it feels like Christmas," Davids was quoted as saying in the Daily Express.
"It seems referees target me. They give fouls against me very easily. Sometimes things are exaggerated."
If Davids receives three more yellow cards before April 9 he will serve a two-match ban.
The former Barcelona, Juventus and Inter Milan player scored his first goal for Spurs at the weekend, following up a weaving solo run with a powerful strike.
The experienced Dutchman has been credited with bringing balance to the Tottenham dressing-room and boss Martin Jol revealed Davids is a great influence.
"After every match Edgar either praises them or criticises them and then leaves the dressing-room and leaves them alone.
"He loves to play for this club and I think it is showing.
"He is 32, but he has great stamina. When you think he is tiring, he always comes up with that sort of thing, but I knew that anyway."

I bet he regrets leaving us every day of his life. Poor guy.
